The term sentence can be defined as a group of words that together make complete sense. A
sentence may have a full stop, question mark, or exclamation mark. Sentences can be
classified on the basis of structure and function.
FEATURES OF SENTENCE
1. The sentence should have a subject. The subject of the sentence is what (or whom) the
sentence is about
2. Sentences must have predicates. A predicate is the part of a sentence, or a clause, that tells
what the subject is doing or what the subject is.

There are four types of sentences in English grammar and they are as follows:

Exclamatory Sentence – An exclamatory sentence is one which is used to express sudden
and strong emotions, and it ends with an exclamation mark. You can also use interjections to
form exclamatory sentences.
