Pakistan Election 2024 results declared
Pakistan’s official election results were
declared by the election commission, with
independent candidates backed by the former
Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-
e-Insaf (PTI) party securing the most seats in
parliament. Independent candidates affiliated
with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have won
102 seats. The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz
Party (PMLN), headed by former Prime
Minister Nawaz Sharif, came in second with 73
seats, and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP)
won 54 seats.
Maldives parliament votes to postpone
general election
The Maldives’s parliamentary election, which
was scheduled for March 17th this year, is set
to be postponed after the legislature voted to
defer the polls, citing the Ramadan month.
The People’s Majlis, or parliament, voted for
the amendment to the country’s General
Elections Act to commence the parliamentary
election ten days after the month of religious
significance in the Sunni Muslim nation.
World Radio Day celebrated on February 13
World Radio Day is observed on 13th February
every year to raise awareness among the
people and the media about the importance
of radio and to encourage access to
information through radio. The day was
proclaimed by the member states of UNESCO
in 2011 and subsequently adopted by the UN
General Assembly in 2012 as an International
Day. This year's theme is – Radio: A Century
informing, entertaining, and educating.

PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana launched
for sustainable development
With an aim to boost solar power and
sustainable progress, Prime Minister Narendra
Yojana.’’ This project, with an investment of
over 75 thousand crore rupees, aims to light
up one crore households by providing up to
300 units of free electricity every month. For
this scheme, substantive subsidies & heavily
concessional bank loans will be given directly
to people's bank accounts, thereby ensuring
no cost burden on the people.
AIIMS Delhi, University of Liverpool partners
for Cancer Research in head & neck
All India Institute of Medical Sciences, AIIMS,
New Delhi, has signed a Collaboration
Agreement with the University of Liverpool for
'AIIMS Liverpool Collaborative Centre for
Translational Research in Head and Neck
Cancer – ALHNS'. The ALHNS will build upon
the pre-existing collaboration and links
between the Liverpool Head and Neck Centre
(LNHC), the University of Liverpool, and the
Head and Neck Cancer Unit at AIIMS.
ALHNS also aims to deliver cutting-edge
medical innovation and personalized cancer
treatments.
Renowned litterateur Usha Kiran Khan dies
Renowned litterateur and Padma Shri
awardee Dr. Usha Kiran Khan passed away.
She was a celebrated writer in Hindi and
Maithili, earning accolades, including the
Sahitya Akademi Award for her Maithili novel
'Bhamati: Ek Avismaraniya Premkatha'.
Her contributions to literature and education
resulted in her getting her Padma Shri in 2015.

IIP Grows to 3.8% in December 2023
As per the data released by the Ministry of
Statistics and Programme Implementation,
India’s industrial production grew 3.8 percent
in December 2023, up from 2.4 percent in
November 2023. For April-December 2023,
industrial growth stood at 6.1 percent,

compared to 5.5 percent in April-Decemberplatform in the current financial year, from

Manufacturing sector output grew by 3.9
percent, while mining and electricity
production cooled to 5.1 percent and 1.2

India’s consumer-based Retail inflation
records 5.1 percent in January
India’s Consumer Price Index-based retail
inflation eased to a three-month low of 5.1
percent in January 2024, mainly on account of
lower food prices. Inflation was at 5.69
percent in December 2023 and 6.52 percent in
January last year. As per the data, food
inflation for January stood at 8.30 percent
versus 9.53 percent recorded in December
2023.
ADS gets DGAQA approval for making Airbus
C295 detailed parts, assemblies in India
The Airbus Defence and Space (ADS) quality
management system for the C295 aircraft has
received approval from the Directorate
General of Aeronautical Quality Assurance
(DGAQA) to produce detailed parts and sub-
assemblies in India. ADS is working with Tata
Advanced Systems Ltd. (TASL) to produce
detailed parts and sub-assemblies at various
locations in India.
GeM made Record Gross Merchandise Value
of 3 Lakh Crore Rupees in Current Fiscal

LIC raises stake in SBI Cards
Centre-owned Life Insurance Corporation of
India’s (LIC) shareholding in SBI Cards and
Payments Services had crossed 5% with the
insurer after it acquired a little more than
three lakh shares in the non-banking financial
company at an average cost of ₹716 per share.
The shareholding has increased from 4.99% to
5.02% (47,410,710 to 47,711,794 equity
shares) following the open market purchase.
SBI Cards and Payment Services is a non-
deposit-accepting systemically important
NBFC, registered with the RBI, and engaged in
issuing credit cards to consumers in India.

jumps 23 ranks to enter top 100
India's tennis player Sumit Nagal has jumped
23 ranks to enter the top 100 in the ATP
singles rankings for the first time in his career.
The title win at the Chennai Open challenger
event pushed Nagal to the 98th spot in the
latest singles rankings. He defeated Luca Nardi
of Italy 6-1, 6-4 in the final to win his fifth
Challenger-level singles title.
Nagal is the first Indian to make the top 100
Dattajirao Gaekwad, India's oldest living Test
cricketer passed away
India's oldest Test cricketer and former India
captain, Dattajirao Gaekwad, died due to age-
related ailments. He played 11 Tests for India
between 1952 and 1961, captaining the
national team in 1959 when it toured England.
He was the father of former Indian opener
and national coach Aunshuman Gaekwad.
