03 Article Critiques
In the next class please bring the page ‘Questions to ask when
evaluating an academic text’
Class Activity - Read each other’s article critique and comment on each
part.

• Bibliographic citation –author’s name, title, name of journal, publisher, volume, page number,
year
• Choi, F.C., J. Li, et al. (2008), “Application of the modified damage index method to timber beam”,
Engineering Structures, 30 (4): 1124-1145.
• Introduction
• Aim of the article
• How this paper links to your research
• Body of critique
• A summary of the content and organisation of the article
• 2 to 4 positive and/or negative aspects about the article

Task 3 – Literature Review
Submission on 03-03-2016
Write a comprehensive literature review summarising and analysing
your article critiques and ADD 10+ relevant research papers.
• You also need to mention star rating of each paper at the end of literature
review
• The literature review must clearly indicate the limitations / gap, on which your
work will be based.
• You can consult good research papers as guidance for this task.
For Mid-term Evaluation, you are
required to submit a complete
camera-ready research proposal
