The aim of this paper is to assess the public-policy cycle in the age of AI, regarding the actual and expected changes that this emerging technology will bring during the different moments of the policy-making process. The cornerstone of this investigation is the analysis of practical cases regarding the different stages of the policy-making cycle. This paper outlines the benefits and negative implications of the use of AI in the public policy-cycle. The contribution of this document is based on the theoretical-conceptual review of AI literature, laying the foundations of the theoretical and practical relationship between AI and public policy. The Dynamic Public Policy-Cycle N2 has the potential to generate better and more inclusive solutions to complex societal problems in a more efficient way. In this way, the public policy-cycle becomes more agile and dynamic as well as allowing for the participation of experts and civil society organizations. Rather than the previous conception of a single cycle, which requires several iterations to produce public policies, the impact of AI evolves in an incremental and spiral fashion. Feedback is given at each stage of the cycle and data is analyzed by way of AI techniques and simulations. In this way, there is no need to wait until the implementation phase to have results and evaluate them. Summing up, AI has the potential to be a tool that benefits the public policy-cycle.
