LEARNING PLAN IN TEACHING ENGLISH (Grade 7)

I. OBJECTIVES
Content Standard: Demonstrate understanding of the conventions of Standard English
grammar and usage when writing or speaking.

Performance Standard: Accurately apply conventions of grammar in oral and written


communication.

Learning Competency: Use the correct verb forms considering the tense.

Specific Learning Objectives:


At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
a. (cognitive) Identify the correct verb forms in sentences.
b. (affective) Appreciate the importance of using correct grammar in daily communication.
c. (psychomotor) Construct sentences using the correct verb forms.

Rule of Use
The rule of use in teaching grammar reminds language teachers to teach grammar for
Communication’s sake. Memorizing the rules does not guarantee language production. If
the goal of language class is for students to use the target language meaningfully, then to
provide opportunities for language practice.

B. Motivation Activity: “Think-Pair-Share” - Students think about their


favorite activities and the time they usually do them. They pair
up to share and discuss and analyze which part of the sentence
are verb.
C. Recall  Quick review of previous lesson on basic verb
 Reinforces understanding of verb and their correct usage.

D. Lesson Proper Introduce verb tenses and aspects.


Verb Tenses: Verb tenses indicate the time of action or state of
being. There are three main tenses:
 Past: Action or state that occurred in the past (I walked).
 Present: Action or state occurring now (I walk).
 Future: Action or state that will occur in the future (I will
walk).

Verb Aspects: Verb aspects convey additional information about


the temporal flow of the action relative to the present moment.

There are four aspects:


 Simple: Expresses a fact (I walk).
 Perfect: Indicates a completed action (I have walked).
 Progressive: Describes an ongoing action (I am walking).
 Perfect Progressive: Shows the end of an ongoing action
(I have been walking)

 Create sentences using different tenses.


 Ask the students to identify the tense on a given
sentences.

Activity  Discuss with the class why certain verbs belong to


specific tenses.
 Analyze the use of different tenses and in a paragraph.

 Summarize the rules for forming different tenses.


 Explain why choosing the correct tense and is important
for clear communication
Analysis
 Write a short story and the students will identify various
tenses used to describe actions and events.
 Students write sentences using verbs in different tenses,
ensuring they match the context.

EVALUATION:
 The teacher will distribute a worksheet and students will answer it where they correct verb
tense errors in sentences.
