MES conducts FLAT AND PHIL-IRI Assessment

Grade 3 FLAT Administration with grade 3 adviser-Mrs. Lorna C.De Guzman Grade 4 Class in their Philippine Reading Inventory Test

The school head Mr. Rolando E. Maynigo leads the conduct of the annual assessment of
Functional Literacy Assessment Tool (FLAT) for grades 1-3 and Philippine Informal Reading
Inventory for grades 4-6 in English and Filipino. A total of 65 students were assessed in the
primary level and a total of 93 students in the intermediate level. Learners who got 13 scores
and below will undergo the Phil-Iri Assessment while those who scores 14 will no longer take
the reading Inventory.

The English FLAT Assessment is facilitated by Mrs. Alma dG. Parayno, the school English
coordinator, whereas, Mrs Medelyn B. Gomez in charge of the Filipino subject. The English
consolidation result shows that in the Assessment of FLAT in the Primary Level: there are 8
noted below Letter level, 23 falls in Letter Level, 1 in syllable, 7 under Word Level, 6 in Phrase
Level, 10 in Paragraph Level, and 10 in Story Level with Comprehension. Instructional Level and
Whereas, the consolidation result of Phil-Iri in the intermediate level showed that their reading
level is as follows: a total of 60 students out of 93 test takers got the scores of 13 and below;
46 students fall under Frustration Level; 14 students under instructional level and nobody
scored in the independent level.

The consolidated results of Filipino in the assessment of Flat shows that there is no
noted below letter level; 17 students fall under Letter level; 9 from Syllable Level; 9 from Word
Level; 4 under Phrase Level; and 2 from Paragraph Level. The Filipino result in Phil-Iri is as
follows: a total of 43 students out of 93 test takers got the scores of 13 and below: 19 students
fall under Frustration Level; 25 students in Instructional Level and nobody scored in the
Independent level.

The Functional Literacy Assessment Tool (FLAT) and Philippine Informal Reading
Inventory (PHIL-IRI) measures the reading readiness and reading level of students in the
primary and intermediate level. Hence, the result interpreted allows the advisers in every grade
level to give appropriate literacy and reading intervention to address the gaps seen in the
result.

MALABAGO ES joins in the conduct of NUMERACY Assessment in Calasiao II


Malabago ES spearheaded by Mr. Rolando E. Maynigo joins in the simultaneous
conduct of Numeracy Assessment in Calasiao II. The teachers of Malabago ES facilitate the
Numeracy Assessment Test in Idoldol Elementary School, whereas, the teachers from Doyong
Centro Elementary school conducted the Numercay Assessment to our students.

Mrs. Lorna C. De Guzman, the school Mathematics Coordinator assists the teacher
examiners and students during the conduct of the tests. There are a total of 150 students who
underwent the assessment test. The assessment test is given the numeracy level of students in
every grade. The identified moderately numerates and non-numerates will be given
intervention activities to improve their numeracy skills. And the highly numerates will be given
enrichment activities to further enhance their numeracy skills.

“The result of the numeracy Assessment test will help the teachers to identify the
students’ weaknesses and be able to give them appropriate intervention activities that will aid
these identified students who are non-numerates specially during the Catch-Up Friday.“ Mr.
Maynigo said.
