Art Movement: Surrealism (Abstract Art Movement)

Aim: The aim of surrealism is to revolutionise human experience. Artists aimed to allow the
unconscious mind to express itself, which often results in the depiction of illogical or dream-
like sequences and art pieces.
Development: Started in Europe during the aftermath of World War One.
Began Approximately: 1920
Influenced: Abstract Modernism, Post Modern Art, and Fantastic Art.
Location: France, Belgium
Aesthetic Qualities: Allows the artist to express themselves in odd ways, which makes the art
piece look like a dream or nightmare sequence. It often looks weird, with completely
illogical-looking subject matter, with no true focus on just one thing.
Statement: When working on this art piece, I want to implement as many things from my
childhood as I can. Whether it be Pokemon, stories from my childhood, and just aspects from
dreams that I remember vividly. I want to make it look as chaotic as possible, but also have a
nostalgic energy to it.
