Bimestral - English
Bimestral - English
1. Adverbs
An adverb is a word that modifies a verb in a sentence.
Adverbs modify a verb by giving us information about the following aspects of a verb
● How an action occurs
● Where an action occurs
● When an action occurs
● How often an action occurs
Adverb of manner
An adverb of manner describes how you do an action.
Adverbs of manner are really useful because they let us add a lot of extra details to
descriptions, to make what we say more interesting and dynamic to the listener or reader.

Adverb of frequency
An adverb of frequency describes how often an action happens. There are six main adverbs
of frequency that we use in English: always, usually (or normally), often, sometimes, rarely,
and never.
Example
● Sara always goes out on Saturday evenings
● Ben and Emma often go for lunch together.
● In the winter Sara sometimes goes Skiing in France.
Exception to this rube: verb “to be”. With sentences using the verb ‘to be’, the adverb of
frequency comes after the verb.
● There are always lots of people in the city centre on Saturday nights.
● It’s often difficult to find a place to park.
● But our friends are never on time so it doesn’t matter if we’re late.
