CAMS 007 Acid Mist Suppressant for

Copper Electrowinning Tank Houses
DESCRIPTION
CAMS 007 is an aqueous-based surfactant which inhibits and controls acid mist generation during copper
electrowinning by reducing the surface tension and viscosity of the electrolyte without negatively impacting on the
current efficiency, copper purity, or the downstream solvent extraction processes. It has a low-foaming index, thus
does not create a local fire hazard on the surface by entrainment of organics transferred from the up-stream
processes.

APPLICATION NOTES
CAMS 007 is applied at concentrations between 5 and 20 mg/L into the recirculating electrolyte as a function of the
total electrolyte volume in the system. Actual dosage is dependent on the surface tension, the plating rate, temperature,
losses through bleeding and spillage, and losses in other in-line processes. It is best optimized by on-site monitoring of
actual acid-mist levels over time (direct determination using OSHA 113 or NIOSH 7908 methods) or by indirect
methods such as monitoring surface tension or air particulates.

It is integral to the supply and service of this product by ChemQuest Africa to provide a qualified engineer and
appropriate equipment during the initial use to optimize the dosage and correct application.
