ABSTRACT
In today's globalized world, concentrating on English is a basic skill. majority of scientific
publications and online information sources are written in English. Apart from that, basically all
organizations in the world of work require English language skills when recruiting new
representatives. Further education, must be able to produce students who, apart from having talent
in their field, can also teach in English. Therefore, the aim of this research is to find out how
important it is for students in Indonesia to learn English so they can become better workers and be
able to compete in the world of work.

INTRODUCTION
English, as a global language, has gained
immense significance in today's
interconnected world. Not only does it serve
as a common means of communication, but it
also functions as a gateway to knowledge,
opportunities, and cross-cultural
understanding. Proficiency in English has
become essential for students to thrive in the
globalized environment. Moreover, English
language proficiency fosters cross-cultural
understanding, empathy, and appreciation of
diverse perspectives.
RESEARCH METHOD
For this journal article, a comprehensive
literature review was conducted to gather
relevant information on the importance of
learning English in the student environment.
Various academic sources, including books,
scholarly articles, and reports, were consulted
to obtain a comprehensive understanding of
the topic. The literature review helped identify
key themes, theories, and empirical studies
related to the cognitive, academic,
professional, and cultural benefits of English
language proficiency among students.
DISCUSSION
1. English in student environment, This communication
must be carried out verbally and also in writing. In
learn or if you want to master English has 4 (four)
skills must be understood and mastered, there are
listening, speaking, reading, and writing. These four
skills must be mastered thoroughly because of it all
necessary to communicate using English.
2. Benefits of english for students, By studying English,
students can experience a positive impact on the
economy with increased job opportunities and
sought-after skills in the competitive global market.
3. Problems of students in learning english, Students
often face a number of problems that affect the
process of learning English in an educational
environment. One of the main problems is the
mismatch between their level of English proficiency
and curriculum demands or professional needs.

CONCLUSION
English is very important for students in academic, professional and daily life. Even though English is a
required subject, students in Indonesia face a number of problems when learning English, such as
difficulties, reluctance, and difficulty gaining access to learning resources. Educational institutions can
also consider using technology in learning, such as applications or online platforms that facilitate
interactive English practice. Apart from that, support from a learning community consisting of fellow
students or English tutors can also be an effective solution.
