Tom : My mom wants me to stop seeing one of my friends


because she thinks he doesn't study hard enough and
is naughty sometimes. But I don't agree. I like him.
We have a lot in common, and I enjoy talking with
him. I think I have the right to decide who my
friends are, not my mom.

I like to build model airplanes. Doing a good job of it


takes a lot of time and care. AIl the pieces are tiny and
frail. But when I finish, the plane looks super! Another
thing I love to do is collect stamps. I've been doing this
for many years. My dad got me started. Right now I'rn
trying to have a complete set of stamps from Ireland.
Some of them are hard to find, but locating the rare
ones is part of the fun.

This woman is a f4mous singer. Everywhere she goes,
she is the center of attention. Everyone wants her
autograph and to have a picture taken with her.
She can't eat or go shopping or take a walk without
being bothered. If she gets angry or frustrated, anything
she says or does is widely reported. Even though she is
rich and famous, sometimes she wishes she were just
an ordinary person.

I love my dog. We have had him since he was iust a

because I didn't know any better. I would never do that
now, because I know it hurts him. I don't understand
how anyone can be cruel to pets or to other animals.

School takes up most of my time. I go there all day,
nearly every day. When I le,ave school, I still have
homework to do. Then I have to study for my tesls.
A11 of this causes a lot of worry. Doing well in school is
important. The jobs I get and who my friends are in
the future will depend a lot on how well I do in school.
So studying is a big problem. Also, of course, I want my
parents to be proud of me. So I have to study hard.
