Guide to Claim GMB(Google

My Business) Ownership
Access
2023
1. Login using the Gmail account you intend to use to manage the GMB
*Notes:
Please use a Gmail account which is well-protected and secured by the company. It
should have a failsafe or recovery option, in case the original person who
created/managed it can no longer be reached.

2. Go to business.google.com/add

3. Enter the name and address of the business, then choose it from the search results.
4. As this particular GMB is already owned by someone else, you’ll get a screen similar
to this:

5. Click on the Request Access button:

6. On the next page, please fill out the form from Google and tick the Gmail account
you have used upon logging in. When done, click Submit:
*Note: Please Choose “Ownership” on the level of access, and “Owner” on
relationship to business, so you will get the highest level of access to the GMB

7. After pressing Submit, you will then get a page similar to this one, saying the current
owner has 3 days to respond. If they don’t respond, then you will be given the
chance to verify your claim to the GMB:
8. Wait for 3-5 days. After 3 days or so, login to the Gmail account you used to claim
this particular GMB, then search for it again in Google, and then click on the “Own
this business”. Now, instead of getting the page with “This Business Profile has
already been claimed” previously, you’ll get a page similar to this:

(sample only)

9. Click on the Verify button, and then you’ll get to the Verify page like this one:
*Note: Please make sure that your office address matches the one indicated in the
GMB. If not, we can use the Suggest Edit feature first, before you verify. Please
coordinate this with your SEO Specialist.

*Note 2: There may be other ways available to verify your ownership of the GMB,
such as
 Thru Phone (landline)
 Thru Email (domain-connected email, eg.customer.qc@stlukes.com.ph)

Choose whichever is applicable to your situation.

10. Wait for the postcard to reach you, and then you can use the code therein to verify
your ownership of the GMB. If you need further, assistance, please reach out to your
SEO Specialist.
