PATTERN NOTES

This is a made to measure pattern. Suitable


for advanced beginner and up. Written in US
terminology.
The pattern is divided into five parts:
(1) The waist panel, (2) the bust panel, (3) the
back panels and straps, (4) the peplum or skirt,
and (5) the ruching.

MATERIALS ABBREVIATIONS

Ch - chain
Size 2 Sport Weight Yarn St/sts - stitch/
3.00 and 3.5 mm hook stitches
sl st - slip stitch
Tape Measure SC - single crochet
Stitch markers/darning DC - double crochet

MEASUREMENTS

A (waist) = Ex: 26 in
B (waist to under bust) = Ex: 3 in
B1 (B divide by 2) = Ex: 3in divided by 2 = 1.5 in
C (under bust to the fullest part of your bust)= Ex: 5 in
C1 (length of the back panel, should be equal to
measurement (C) = 5 in
D (from the side of the breast to the other side) = Ex: 10.5 in
E (straps length) = (C to the top of your shoulders x 3) + 3 in
F (straps width) = Ex = 1 in
G(length of the peplum/ruffles) = Ex: 3 in

NOTE: WHEN GETTING YOUR
MEASUREMENT (A), IT IS BEST TO AT
LEAST MEASURE 1 INCH ABOVE YOUR
WAIST BUT NO NEED TO DO THIS IF YOU
WILL BE MAKING THE DRESS VERSION.

PART I. WAIST PANEL

STEP 1. Make a foundation chain.

Ch multiples of 6+2 until you reach measurement (A).


Ex: 120 + 2
Note: Try it around your waist, stretch it a little bit and see if it fits around.
Tip: You can add more chains if your yarn is not stretchy.

STEP 2. Make a solid shell stitch rows. CLICK THE IMAGE FOR A VIDEO GUIDE ON HOW TO
MAKE HDC

Row 1: HDC on the 3rd st from the hook,


HDC until the end of the row, turn.

Row 2: Ch 1, SC into the 1st st. *skip 2 sts,


make 5 DC into the next st. Skip 2 sts, 1 SC
on the next st. Repeat from * until the end
of the row, turn. Make sure you end with 1
SC.

Row 3: Ch 3 (count as 1 DC), 2 DC into the


first st. * Skip 2 DC, SC on the next st. Skip
2 STS, make 5 DC into the next SC.
Repeat *, ending the last repeat with 3DC,
turn.

Row 4 to Row (n): Repeat Rows 2 and 3


until you reach measurement (B1). Make
sure to end in Row 2.

PART I. WAIST PANEL

STEP 3. HDC rows (Boning)


Row 1: Ch 2, DC into the 1st st. *HDC into the next 5 sts, DC i the next SC.
Repeat * until the end of the row, turn
Row 2: Ch 2, FPDC into the first st. *HDC into the next 5 sts, FPDC into
the next DC Repeat * until the end of the row, turn
Row 3: Ch 2, BPDC into the first st. *HDC into the next 5 sts, BPDC into
the next st. Repeat * until the end of the row, turn
Row 4 to row (n): Repeat rows 2 and 3 until you reach measurement (B)

MAKE FPDC AND BPDC

STEP 4. Make another row of solid shell stitch


Ch 1, SC into the 1st st. *skip 2 sts, make 5 DC into the next st. Skip 2 sts, 1
SC into the next st. Repeat from * until the end of the row, turn.

STEP 5. Ch 1, HDC across. Fasten off.

PART II. BUST PANEL

STEP 1.
Lay your waist panel flat (front facing) and mark the stitches where you
want both ends of your measurement D to go. Count the number of
stitches and make sure the two remaining sides are equal. Try fitting it to
yourself and adjust the markers as needed. (Refer to the figure below)
Ex: I have 120 sts Measurement (D) NOTE:

PART III. BACK PANEL
AND STRAPS

STEP 1. Lay your front panel flat. You will be working with the other two
sides. Refer to the figure below. Start working on the LEFT back panel.

Row 1: Attach the yarn on the very first st of the front panel, Ch 2, DC
across, turn.
Row 2: Ch 2, make a dec onto the first two sts, DC until the 3rd to the
last st, make a dec in the last two sts, turn.
Row 3 to row(n): Repeat row 2 until you reach your measurement (C1). Do
not cut your yarn.

THIS. FOR REFERENCE, I MADE A DECREASE.
TOTAL OF 15 ROWS

STEP 2. Make the back strap. Continue where you left off, see if you
are already satisfied with the width of the strap then proceed to Row 1. If
you want to have a thinner strap, continue making rows with decreases.
Once you get the preferred width for your strap, proceed to Row 1.
Row 1 to Row (n): Ch 2, DC in every rows until you reach your
measurement (E). Then make few rows of dec until you have one st left.
The end of your straps should be pointy.

PART III. BACK PANEL
AND STRAPS

STEP 3. Turn your work. Start working on the RIGHT back panel. Repeat
the same process as the LEFT back panel, as well as the straps.

YOUR PANELS SHOULD LOOK LIKE THIS AFTER MAKING

(LAY FLAT, FRONT SIDE)

NOTE: If you want a narrower back, you can dec every 2 rows (only on
the side with arrows represented above). If you want a more open back,
do 2 dec in every beginning and end of each row.
STEP 4. Make the front straps.

Attach the yarn(see the illustration above). Ch 2, DC across (make sure


the number of sts and rows are equal with the back straps). Repeat the
process that you did in your back straps.

PART IV. PEPLUM

STEP 1. Lay your work flat, with the bottom of your back panels facing
away from you.

STEP 2. Fold your back panels(right side). Insert your yarn and connect
your back panels using a sl st. Refer to the illustration below.

CHANGE YOUR HOOK INTO 3.5 MM.


INSERT THE YARN ON THE LAST STITCH
OF YOUR RIGHT BACK PANEL AND
CONNECT IT TO THE FIRST ST OF YOUR
LEFT BACK PANEL USING A SL ST.

STEP 3. You will be making Double V-stitches / V-stitch for the


peplum.
To make Double V-stitches: [1 DC, Ch 1, 2 DC, Ch 1, 1 DC] into the same
st.
To make V-stitch: [1 DC, Ch 1, 1 DC] into the same st.
Row 1: Ch 2, *skip 1 st, make double v-sts, repeat* across, sl st in into the
Ch 2.
Row 2: Ch 2, * make v-stitch to every Ch 1 space. Repeat * across, sl st
into the Ch 2.
Row 3 : Ch 2, *make double v-stitches to every Ch 1 space. Repeat *
across, sl st into the Ch 2.
Row 4 to row(n): Repeat Row 2 until you reach your measurement(G).

PART IV. PEPLUM

Note: Repeat row 2 if you are already satisfied with the increase/ volume
of the peplum.
For reference, I made 3 rows.
STEP 4. Edging ( for the top). Make a row of HDC. Fasten off.

SKIRT
If you will be making the dress, just continue making V-stitch rows. Make
an increase in your butt area by making double V-stitches rows. Repeat
the process until you are satisfied with the length of the skirt. The dress
should be flowy and may look like a balloon dress. Refer to the illustration
below.

Edging (for the skirt of the dress) : Ch 2, [ 3 DC, Ch2, 3 DC] in every V-
stitches across. Fasten off.

PART V. RUCHING

STEP 1. Start making the ruched part of the front panel. Flip your work
to the other side (wrong side). Lay your front panel flat and mark its
center.
STEP 2. Make enough numbers of Ch, this will serve as the string for
the ruch. ( For reference, I made 80 Ch)
Insert each ends of your Ch to the left and right side of the marked part
of your front panel. Insert it alternately in between rows. Once you reach
the bottom of your front panel, gently pull the string and tie it.

FINISHING TOUCH

TIME TO WEAVE THE ENDS :)


For back security, you have the option to connect
your waist panels close using a sl sts. Or make a
tie to secure it.
