Manual on how to perform assembly in Solid works:

1. Draw two separate parts as Given below and save with the name of Assemble 1 and
Assemble 2.

Figure: Assembly part 1

Figure Assembly part 2

Page | 3
2. Now select Assembly from the starting interface.

3. Browse and open the previously saved Assemble 1 file and select components to add
the other part saved as Assemble 2.

Page | 4
4. Select Mate and select Advanced Mate. Select the Width reference and Tab
reference as shown in the figure below.

5. Click Ok and then got Standard Mate. Select the mate selections properly and the
select Coincident to align the two parts.

6. Then again go to Standard Mate and select the surface accordingly to align the
surfaces properly as shown in the figure.

7. Click Ok to get the final form of the figure.

Manual to design a Stethoscope in Solid works:

Section 1: Binaural
1. Take the Front Plane to start sketching.

2. Draw a centerline through the origin, then sketch using the sketch relations shown in
the figure. Select Mirror entities and mirror the sketch around the centerline.

Page | 9
3. Make a plane parallel to the right plane and coincident with the line's end point. On
this plane, draw a circle with the center coincident with the endpoint.

4. Select Swept Boss/Base. Select the Circle as Profile and the curved line as path. Then
clock ok to get the following figure.

5. Select Mirror click on the Right plane to as mirror about. And select the wept part to
mirror the feature to left part.

Section 2: Earpiece

6. Now draw the following sketch using lines and 3-point ark at the top the figure.

Page | 11
7. Select Revolved Boss/Base and revolve the sketch. To get the air piece

8. Use the mirror feature to make another earpiece. Choose the right plane from the
design tree to serve as the mirror face/plane. Select Revolve1 from the design tree as
well as features to mirror.

Section 3: Binaural Spring

9. On the front plane, draw the following sketch. Select Mirror to draw a mirror image
of a center line through the origin.

10. Create another plane perpendicular to the line and coincident with the point shown.

Page | 13
11. On this plane, draw a center rectangle with the center of the rectangle coincident with
the center of the circle shown. Fillet the corners with a radius of 10 mm using Sketch
Fillet.

12. Use swept boss/ base with this sketch as the profile and the sketch in the previous
sketch as the path.

Page | 14
13. Take another sketch on Plane 2. Create the sketch shown in figure which consists of
two arcs and two straight lines. Extrude this sketch using up to surface. Select the
highlighted spring surface as the necessary surface for extrusion.

Section 4: Connector

14. Draw the sketch on the front plane and mirror about the center line.

Page | 15
15. Extrude the sketch using mid plane option from dropdown list with a value of 2 mm.

Section 5: Tubing

16. Create a sketch on the surface of the connector. Draw a circle on this plane centered
on the origin.

Page | 16
17. Draw a spline curve on the front plane starting from the center of the circle shown in
the previous step.

18. Sweep the circle along the spline curve using Swept Boss/ Base.

Page | 17
Section 6: Chest Piece

19. Draw a circle on the front plane with given dimension through the two vertices
marked in figure and extrude using mid plane by 3 mm. Take a sketch on the extruded
surface and draw two circles having dimensions shown in the figure. Extrude (blind)
by 3 mm.

20. Take another sketch on the bottom surface of the middle piece. Draw a circle having a
diameter of 16 mm. Extrude this by 3 mm but use the draft feature with an angle of
60⁰ and the option draft outward.

Page | 18
21. Chamfer the shown edge with distance- distance option with the dimension of 2 mm
for the small circle and .2 mm for the large circle.

22. Create another circle on the smaller circle and Select Extrude cut. Select the depth as
2mm.

23. Click ok to get the final figure.
