Dear Diary,

I am so excited to travel around the world, while serving my country and earning some
money. Apparently, I needed a signature from my dad and mum. But I think I’m old enough
to sign it myself since I am an adult. Even my mates have joined the army, and they are one
year younger than me. So, I told the officers that I was 22 years old and a wife and that I
need the money to support my wife, even though I didn’t have a wife.

I told my mum and dad that I joined the army, they weren’t too happy. Mum thought I was
going to die. Dad was like to me “mate don’t worry about us and make you’re good ol’ man
proud, and I want to see you come back as higher rank officer”. Those words from dad
encouraged me to fight for the country, the king and to make my parents proud. Anyway,
the higher officers had asked all the recruits to meet at a training ground inside the campus.
And my boy there was a lot of recruits.

I made a lot of mates that wanted to go places like me. They were really excited just like me.
Honestly speaking, I have never killed anyone or hurt anyone physically. So, I am a bit
scared, but it’s all worth it. My mate Jack told the officers that he was 30 years old, I don’t
know how they even thought he was 30 years old. I guess they just wanted recruits.
But anyway, Jack and I, took the bus to the camp. We were then greeted by scary looking
officers. And they shaved our heads and gave us army clothes to wear at camp and let me
tell you the clothes stank. Anyway I am very excited to fight for my country and make my
parents proud.
