1. Please

A friend I adore,
An enemy I detest,
Our friendship changing was my distress.
Our love turned abhor,
I felt such remorse,
Regretting the path that we did course.
But in my heart,
I have one desire,
To repair our friendship, make it higher,
Please tell me, friend,
Can we rekindle the flame?
I beg you, please, this is not a game.

2. The writer’s prayer

In the quest of words that speaks

I wish for words to write
A sentence that entice
With wisdom at it peaks

I pray for my pen not to seize

And that my ink never dry
With my writings not fading
And my hand not trembling

In silence I whisper
And not again in my prayer
May my words be in harmony
And echoes beyond my colony
May my words be a mirror
That reflects the world we see
And fight for liberty and justice
Like that of a sword

May my ink be a glue

That brings together the broken
May my hand be a brush
And paints the colors of humanity

In silence I whisper
And not again in my prayer
May my writings be a blessing
Thats touches hearts everywhere

3. Letter to my CountryMen

Dear countrymen, let us fight the demon

That threatens our nation with its venom
By the flag pole of our country we stand
With our right hand on our hearts we demand

Dear Nigeria, we pledge you as our country

To be faithful, loyal and honest in our duty
To serve you with all our might and zeal
To defend your unity and uphold your ideal

So help us God, for we not only vow by word

But let it show in our deeds and in our sword
For Nigeria shall rise by the power of the two rivers
Niger and Benue, flowing with life-givers

By the power of our diversity we shall stand

250 tribes, 500 languages, a rich and vibrant land
By the power of our identity we shall soar
We shall rise and never fall again, evermore

4. Blank

I want to write but my head looks plain

And my pen seems to fade
Perhaps I need to sit straight
So my efforts won't be vain
5. My whispers

I had a pen, but I couldn’t write.

I had ink, but my jar seemed to leak.
I had emotions, but I didn’t know how to express.
An urge, so melancholy that I couldn’t suppress.
A distress, so obsessive that I couldn’t confess,
My silence not always golden
At times it is my fears unspoken

6. Happy World’s Poetry Day

From heart’s depths, emotions flow,

In rhythmic words, they find their glow.
From pen to page, tales unfold,
With fears unspoken, a story told.

A canvas blank, where life’s portrayed,

With strokes of pen, humanity’s laid.
Poets, weavers of human plight,
In ink, they seal our dreams at night.

Their hands, stained with words,

Ink as their weapon, truth unfolds.
On this day, let’s honour their art,
For they paint the world, soul to heart.

Happy Poetry Day, to those who dare,

With pen and ink they care.
