Aim: To find the focal length of a convex lens by plotting graph between v and linear

magnification m(= ) using u-v method.

Apparatus:

 Optical bench with lens holder and two pin holders

 Two pins
 Convex lens
 Meter scale
Diagram:

Theory:

v = distance of image needle from lens.

According to sign-convention, u has negative value and v has positive value for convex lens.
Hence, f comes positive.

Procedure:
Same as Expt 2.
Tabulate your reading for u and v and calculate m=v/u correct to 3 significant figures.
OBSERVATION:
Rough focal length of the convex lens by distant -object method : ___cm
m=v/u

Calculation:

Result: The focal length of the given convex lens from v vs m(=v/u) graph is found to be
_______ cm
