Education plays an important role in everyone’s development, so all countries take cares of educating

young people. In some countries, young people who graduate high school are advised to spend a year
working or travelling before continue to study in university. This way has both benefits and drawbacks.

Having been encouraged by many countries, working or travelling a year before go to university gives
young student many advantages. Education has to be practical. Therefore, one year between finishing
high school and beginning university studies is the ideal time that student can experience the world.
Working and travelling can help them use your knowledge and skills to reality. As a result, they are
expert in this field and have enough preparation to gain more knowledge in university. For example, a
student who want to be a machine worker can work in a garage or a student who want to be a tourist
guide can go to many well-known landmarks. In addition, school-leavers can have a year to relax after a
long period of studying. This year is very meaningful to them before go to university and live in new
environment.

However, spending a year after graduating high school also has some disadvantages. First, while many
students choose to experience in a year, other school-leavers continue to study university immediately.
This different can make peer pressure in student who work or travel a year. Second, for some young
people, they are not rich or even very poor, or their parents are old. As a result, they have to study
university quickly and then earn money to be breadwinners.

Travelling or working in a year between high school and university is a good idea for some young people.
But for others, it has more drawbacks. So choosing the effective way to study is the student’s significant
decision.
