The graph compares the percentage of the international and the percentage of UK student gaining second class

degrees or better at a major UK university.

The bar chart compares the rate of international and UK students who earned second class degrees or better in a
major UK university in 2009.

The proportion of international students achieving such result was significantly higher than that of UK students
in the two areas of electrical engineering and information technology. By contrast, the rate of UK students was
higher in four other fields. This is most evident in international law, in which the UK’s rate was significantly
higher at about 70% in comparison with under 50% for their international counterpart.

This percentage, however, was equal in nursing and accountancy, although it should be noted that the figures
for these fields are relatively high for both groups of students (at over 70% and exactly 60% respectively).

In conclusion, with the exception of international law, the percentage of students gaining relatively good degree
or better was at least 50% in almost all fields, although there exist certain disparities between the two group of
students.
