INTRODUCTION

School Institution, which caters the inculcation of scientific attitude, science genuine
interest that can supplements the work of the classroom and give syllabus to practical
dimension.

Science club, the place for students who are interested in science to learn about all scopes
of science, biology, chemistry, physics and the environment. The club forms the backbone of
co-curricular activities in science.

Through science club activities learning becomes joyful and meaningful.

GOAL:

To supplement classroom learning, develop scientific skills and attitudes, and connect
students to the broader science community through activities like science fairs.

Students and enthusiasts to explore scientific principles, engage with the world of science
and phenomena. These clubs provide an opportunity for individuals to learn about different

and even out of school premises where activity suitable.

Date:

The activities of the clubs conducted on the scheduled date mention on the action plan in
every school year

Recognizes the significance of science club, the youth in promoting science
consciousness, public understanding of science and technology in the Philippines. Saint Joseph
School aims to encourage the active participation of the youth in scientific activities, and foster
a culture of scientific curiosity and innovation. The School starts organizing science club upon
opening of the school year through election of club officers. Bulletin Board creation for the
updates of activities and information, maintaining Cleanliness of the school and environmental

and guidelines for cleanliness and having a conducive learning environment. The club
designates park to rest, unwind and study. During the first week of the month of January science
activities will launch to tackle theme and activities for culminating. The culminating activities
are Clean-Up Drive, Milk Color Explosion, Volcanic Eruption, Redox Reaction, Eco-Fashion
Show, Quiz bee, Slogan, Poster.

Solid Waste Management

The objective of clean up drive in school

Milk Color Explosion

Grade 7 & 8

Milk is a mixture of water, fat, vitamins and minerals.

When soap is added to the milk, it helps to separate the
water and fat in the milk. When soap is mixed in with the
fat and water, the hydrophobic end of the soap molecule
breaks up the nonpolar fat molecules, and the hydrophilic
end of the soap molecule links up with the polar water
molecules. Now that the soap is connecting the fat and
water, the nonpolar fat molecules can be carried by the
polar water molecules.

Volcanic Eruption
Grade 9 & 10
Volcanic eruption
The baking soda is a base and the vinegar is an acid. When the acid and base combine, an
endothermic reaction occurs and releases carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide gas rushes
toward the bottle opening and also causes the dish soap to foam.

Redox Reaction
Grade 11 & 12

The lemon battery setup, cathode the copper metal is the

positive terminal, anode the zinc metal the negative
terminal and the juice in the lemons form the
electrolyte. The ions in the juices attack the zinc metal
to form zinc ions which move through the lemon juice
to the copper metal.
The electron travels from the negative anode galvanize
metal going to the positive cathode copper metal and
Eco-Fashion passing through the LED light.
Grade 7 - 12
The Eco-Fashion Show was started in 2011 by Michelle Tang ('13) to educate about the impact of the
fashion industry and promote more sustainable choices (reuse, up cycling, repurposing what we
already have). The goal is to highlight creative reuse and the importance of mindful consumption.
