INTRODUCTION

DEVICE BRIEF OVERVIEW

POLI MP400T is a multi-gas detector that make use of different sensors to simultaneously detect
and quantify concentrations of oxygen (O2), carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO),
hydrogen sulphide (H2S) and hydrocarbons (especially methane CH4) in ambient environment or
inline flow by use of diffusion and pumped gas access modes.
Upon switching on the device enters NORMAL GAS TESTING mode whereby it indicates
instantaneous gas values, with an option of other values such as STEL (Short Term Exposure
Limit),

M-D (Man-Down) Alarm feature notifies nearby workers if the machine handler/user is
incapacitated.
POLI MP400T has up to six months of continuous data logging

CALIBRATION
POLI MP400T has various calibration options that allow users to maintain the accuracy and
reliability of the machine over time as the sensors age or are exposed to harsh conditions.
Calibration Options
Fresh Air, Multi Span, Single Zero, Single Span, Bump Test and Set Span Value
Fresh Air Calibration
 This a basic calibration method where the device is exposed to clean fresh air.
 It is a quick and easy way to ensure the sensors are functioning properly.
 It sets the oxygen sensor to 20.9% and resets other gas sensors to their default zero
values.
Multi-span Calibration
 This is a more comprehensive calibration procedure that adjusts the sensitivity of all
sensors simultaneously.
 It involves exposing the device to known concentrations of the target gases allowing the
sensors to calibrate to those values.
Bump Test Calibration
 Bump Test quickly checks that the gas sensors and alarms are functioning properly.
 It involves briefly exposing the device to a known concentration of test gases to verify
the readings and alarms.
 Bump tests are a fast way to confirm the device is ready for use without a full calibration.
NB. When the device fails a multiple Bump Tests then a Multi-span Calibration must be
done.
Single Zero Calibration
 This allows the user to zero out or reset the reading for a single gas sensor.
 It is useful if one sensor is drifting or showing an offset from the true zero value.
Single Span Calibration
 Similar to Single Zero Calibration, this calibrates the sensitivity of a single gas sensor.
