Chelsea Buns 45 15

Ingredients (Makes 9 buns) Equipment

 200g bread flour (strong plain, wholemeal or granary) 20cm cake tin
 1packet instant dried yeast
 1 teaspoon salt
 1 tablespoon oil
 125ml warm water
 Extra flour for kneading and shaping
 50g margarine
 50g Demerara sugar
 100g mixed fruit
 Mixed spice
 1 tablespoon warmed syrup

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 200o C / Gas mark 6 and grease cake tin.


2. Put flour, yeast, salt and oil into a bowl.
3. Slowly add warm water and mix well until slightly sticky dough is formed.
4. Turn dough out onto a floured surface and knead for 5 to 10 minutes.
5. Roll dough into a square.
6. Spread margarine on the dough right up to the edges.
7. Sprinkle with sugar, mixed fruit and mixed spice.
8. Carefully roll up the dough, and cut into 9 slices.
9. Put into cake tin, and put in a warm place until double in size.
10. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes until golden brown
11. Glaze with warmed syrup.
