3. Read the following passage carefully and answer the questions that follow.

Shuqran walked home from school with her brother Rahim. They talked and laughed together. It
was Friday and they were looking forward to the weekend. Their uncle, Hamza promised to come
and take them to the lake. They looking forward to seeing Lake Malawi. There friends at school
admired them. They were all excited as it would be their first time to see the lake.
When the day came, they woke up every morning. Their parents told them to go back to sleep but
they were busy preparing for the journey. They packed their bags brushed their teeth and later had
a bath. Their mother prepared a special breakfast for them. By the time they finish taking their
breakfast, their uncle arrived. “Are you read to go?” uncle Hamza asked them. “Yes!” they
responded.

They got into the car. Uncle Hamza asked them to fasten their seat belts and he stated off. When
they reached Liwonde, uncle Hamza stopped the car. He told them that they would buy some
drinks while seeing Shire river. Rahim, the eldest brother, said that he wanted to swim. He told
his uncle that he knew how to swim Rahim he had learnt it while at school. Uncle Hamza allowed
him to swim.

Rahim started swimming and he enjoyed and did not want to stop. His uncle called him to
proceed with the journey. Instead of coming back Rahim waved them and went on swimming.
Little did he know the weather had changed. It was now windy. When Rahim noticed the change
of the weather he thought of returning. As much as he tried to return, the waves pushed him back.
He was tired. He shouted for help.

Uncle Hamza and Shuqran were worried. Uncle Hamza rushed to a nearby police station where
he reported in incident. A group of police officers came. Immediately thy jumped into the water
to look for him. After some minutes they found Rahim. He was tired and weak. They took him to
the police station where he was given first aid. The police officers asked them to rest for a day
there. The following day, they started off for the lake
