ASSIGNMENT 1

1.
LAKESIDE MUNICIPALITY
DRAFT EMAIL

To: ALL SENIOR MEMBERS OF STAFF

From: T.M. ZAMALA
Director: Human Resources
Date: 4 April 2021
Subject: Mentorship Programme: Need, Purpose and Guidance

Dear Senior members of staff

As discussed at the staff meeting held on 4 April 2021, it is required for you to reconsider the
need, purpose and guidance which the mentorship programme will have.
The recruits who will be entering the Lakeside Municipality in the coming year will need
experienced staff members to lead and mentor them, to monitor their performance and to
provide information and guidance as the need arises. Do not view this as a problem or a
challenge, rather as a constructive opportunity to enable Lakeside Municipality to grow.
A performance assessment percentage of 7.5% will be contributed to your current assessment
standings when you decide to be a part of the Mentorship Programme. Be the mentor you
needed/had when starting in the Municipality and help our recruits of tomorrow grow.
Contact the Human Resources department to add your name to the list if you do consider the
offer.
Kind regards
T.M. ZAMALA

Zodiac Motors
Item 5.3. Dealing with competition from a nearby car dealership

Ms Mazibuko opened the discussion on how the competition from a nearby car dealership could
be dealt with. Ms Mazibuko handed the discussion over to Mr Moloto, who had expressed his
concerns on the matter.

The following key discussions were brought to the table:

• Constellation Motors across the street offers their customers bigger discounts.
• It was established that there were no illegal matters concerning the discount offered by
Constellation.
• Ms Green brough under everyone’s attention that Constellation was shooting
themselves in the foot. Their cars do not have the same resell value as Zodiac Cars.
• It was established that two different markets are being targeted. Zodiac motors sell
quality products where Constellation motors offer products that are cheap and
unreliable.
• A proper comparison will need to be gathered in order to make a proper comparison
between the two businesses products.
It was agreed upon that the Head Office should still be made aware of the problem as brought
up by Mr Moloto. To be able to improve the sales at Zodiac Motors, it was suggested that new
brochures and adverts should be created and designed to promote the businesses. Ms
Mazibuko agreed to this proposal and stated that it would be mentioned in the next report to
Head Office. A workshop was scheduled for the following day to develop more effective sales
pitches that would target the customers that are being lost.
