TP 5 - Vibraciones - Ejercicio
1. For an in-line 4 cylinders and four stroke engine, consider the torque
variation (presented below for one cylinder) as a vibration source.
a. Find an expression for vibration frequency in terms of engine speed
(in RPM.).
b. Calculate the frequency for idle condition (800 RPM).
2. Road roughness is the elevation profile along wheel tracks over which the
vehicle passes. It encompasses everything, from ever present random
deviations to localized pavement failures. Perceptible perturbation can be
constrained between 0.016 to 1.6 cycles/meter. Obtain the perturbations
frequency range for vehicles traveling up to 150km/h.
3. The wheel shown in the figure is balanced by fitting a wheel weight in the
outer flange of the rim. Assuming wheel weight is removed:
a. Obtain the static imbalance force as a frequency function.
b. Obtain the dynamic imbalance moment as a frequency function.
c. Plot results for the velocity range.

5. In the cam valve system sketched bellow, the eccentric cam imposes a
vertical translation movement on the valve. The valve spring is preloaded
during the assembly by compressing it form its free length by X0.
