Recommendation the upcoming days, it’s required to safeguard the Work area & equipment’s from
natural disaster and to safeguard the Hazard arising towards the public from our work
area. GC instructs to ensure the following as a preparedness to reduce the chance of
risk in & around our premises.
Meteorological Conditions:
Weather forecast and information on metrology need to regularly obtain and
Emergency Team shall be readily available for facing the situations.
Drainage:
Proper drainage need to be provided around the site to prevent water logging,
Identify low lying area and plan dyke wall and sand bag.
Strom water lines need to be checked for blockage before the monsoon starts.
Excavations:
All Excavation exceeding 1.2mtr in depth or if condition of soil is loose or sandy
need to be provided with appropriate supports by shoring to prevent collapse.
All excavation must be checked on daily basis by the concern site engineer.
Avoid working in excavation immediately after rainfall and after dewatering
operation.
Monitor cracks and rain cuts on ground and protect excavation first or any
engineering control should applied.
Pumps:
Adequate pumps in adequate numbers and capacity for handling emergency
situations like dewatering etc. should be kept handy/ readily.
Electrical Distribution:
All Electrical cables should be inspected for deterioration of insulation and joints
on daily basis. A record of inspection need to be maintained by Concern Electrical
Supervisor.
No Electric cables should be allowed to hang freely for span more than 5-6m
Use 30mA cut off rating ELCB and earthing need to provide.
Only trained, knowledgeable electricians need to carry out the electrical activities.
Joints in the wire connecting halogen lamps need to be avoided. All cable
connections/joints must be kept above the ground level and standard connection or
jointing kit should be used for all joints.

Personnel other than electrician should not be allowed to carry out electrical
works.
All electrical/ light pole should be well driven into ground to prevent falling
hazard due to wet and loose earth.
Additional Anchorage:
Strong wind may cause damage to roof of office, camp, Barricade, scaffolding. To
prevent the damage/ collapse of the materials it is required to provide additional
anchorage.
Parking:
No vehicle should be parked under the trees or near electric post. Vehicle need to
park in row making way for emergency vehicle to enter/exit.
Road Cleanliness:
Ensure wheels of tipper/trailer exiting from the site need to wash to eliminate and
control the pollution of public road.
Working at Height:
No work should be commenced during the thunderstorm and heavy rain, work
shall be restricted during thunderstorm/ Rain.
The dangers present when working at heights during high winds are not just
limited to a potential collapse. Strong gusts can cause an employee to lose their
footing and fall to the ground, resulting in serious injury or even death.
Obscured vision is another potential risk, as dust and debris are picked up by the
wind and impact on workers' eyes. In gale-force winds, larger debris can also be
moved, creating projectiles that can injure an individual on impact, or knock them
off their feet.
When high winds are present, other adverse weather conditions are usually also in
play. In particular, wind gusts that come as part of a cyclone or storm are typically
coupled with rain, for example. This can lead to increased danger when working at
heights due to wet and slippery surfaces.
Additionally, hail and lightning strikes can pose serious risks for employees
working outdoors. Because of this, employers should consider halting all external
duties when adverse weather conditions strike an area.
If wind warnings are in effect in your area, there are a range of OHS measures you
can take to ensure the health and safety of your workers are protected. This
includes policies that should in place, before, during and after outdoor work
occurs.
