Without further ado, let me start the information about Banyuwangi city.

Banyuwangi is a small city but densely populated region. It is about 108.360 people live in
Banyuwangi. Most of them are Osingnese and others are the people who come from other
cities in East Java even other islands. There are some ethnic groups of Chinese, Maduranese,
Arabs are living in this city. They are as traders here, but there are some of them are working
with the government.The majority of the populations in Banyuwangi are Moslems, and the
rest are Hindus, Buddha, and Christian. Eventhough moslems dominated in this region, but
we can find harmony in terms of their relationship with fellow beings in their daily life.

Banyuwangi is the central of government activities for 25 (twenty five) sub- districts. The
fast development of Banyuwangi as a new tourist destination , no wonder within the last
period of almost 3 years there have been quite a lot the establishment of homestays and
restaurants business. In addition to the location of Banyuwangi city which is quite close to the
Blimbingsari airport, it has a special advantage to attract tourist to visit places of interest in
Banyuwangi.

There are a number of tourist objects in Banyuwangi and surroundings such as the Jagapati
museum, Banyuwangi traditional market, Hong Too Bio temple, the traditional village of
Kemiren, home industry of batik gajah oling etc. Banyuwangi city has two beautiful beaches
that is Boom beach and Watudodol beach. It is quite easy to reach the two beaches by car or
motorcycle.

The two beaches have their own specialty. If we want to enjoy the beautiful landscape of Bali
strait we can visit Watudodol beach, while if we want to enjoy the beautiful sunrise we can
go to Boom beach.

The weather is warm but pleasant. The hottest time of the day is when the sun is on its
highest position between eleven to two o’clock. In the afternoon, evening and early in the
morning the weather is usually cooler, especially at the small hours of the day, time after
midnight.
