COURSE DESCRIPTION: This syllabus for Purposive Communication aims to elevate students' communicative competencies while nurturing cultural and intercultural awareness through a variety of tasks. These
activities present occasions for adept and culturally attuned communication, applicable to both local and global scenarios. The program equips students with the ability to assess texts critically, underscoring the
influential nature of language and the consequential impact of visuals when responsibly conveying messages. The competencies, proficiencies, and perspectives cultivated in this syllabus are transferrable to
their academic pursuits, selected disciplines, and future professional endeavors, enabling them to generate content through oral, written, audio-visual, and/or web-based mediums for diverse objectives.
PROGRAM OUTCOMES:
1. Describe the nature, elements, and functions of verbal and non-verbal communication in various multicultural contexts.
2. Explain how cultural and global issues affect communication
3. Determine culturally appropriate terms, expressions, and images
4. Evaluate multimodal text critically to enhance receptive (listening, reading, viewing) skills.
5. Summarize the principles of academic text structure.
6. Adopt cultural and intercultural awareness and sensitivity in the communication of ideas

COURSE ASSESSMENT
Grading System
Students Score/Perfect Sore X 100% - The Zero Based system with a passing grade of 70% as D
COURSE POLICIES
Attendance:
1. Be on time to attend physical classes or video conferencing.
2. More than 30 minutes late is considered absent
3. Always beat the deadline in submitting documents
4. Passing rate is 70% which is equivalent to a letter grade of D (professional subject)
Quizzes:
1. No special quiz is given to students who failed to attend his/her classes without excusable reasons (as stated in the student manual).
2. A special quiz may be considered during an online activity upon the decision of the teacher. The final word from the Department Chair is final and irrevocable.
Examinations:
1. No special examinations will be given for late and absent students, except for valid reasons (sickness, death of immediate family, or in cases where a student is sent as a delegate or representative
of the college in school-approved activity)
2. A special exam may be considered if missed online, upon the decision of the teacher. The final word from the Department Chair is final and irrevocable.
Uniform:
1. Wearing a prescribed uniform is a must.
2. Students not in uniform may be denied entry to class or deducted points for the assigned activity of the day.
3. Uniforms must be worn according to whether the class is lecture or laboratory.
