Ways of avoiding plagiarism

Plagiarism is a way of taking someone else work and making it as your own work.

Plagiarism has been in existence and more so it is done by the students when given assignments

or even the researchers. There are various ways in which plagiarism can be avoided and they

are illustrated as below

Quoting

When a source is being quoted from, it is supposed to be quoted exactly the way it

appears. an intellectual should be able to productively paraphrase most material. The process

consumes a lot of time, but the effort is quite effective. for plagiarism allegation to be avoided,

quoting must be done correctly

Referencing

Another essential way of avoiding plagiarism is to include works cited at the end of your

research paper or including reference page. Furthermore, this page has to meet the document

formatting guidelines used which are being used by your educational institution(pears and

shields 2) . This information is very specific and includes, title, the author(s), date of publication

and source.

When you find an ideal information for your research paper. Go through the research

work then put it your own words. You do not have to copy exactly more than two words in a row

from the text you have found. If you do use more than two words together, you will have to use

quotation marks. We will get into quoting properly soon.

Citing your own material

you must cite yourself If some of the material you are using for your research paper was

used by you in your previous class, current one, or anywhere else. Treat the text the same as you

would if someone else wrote it. It may sound odd, but using material you have used before is

called self-plagiarism, and it is not acceptable

in conclusion, from the above illustrations, it is clear that there are possible ways in

which plagiarism can be done away with,
