• The heart is:


o The core of who you are.
o The centre of identity.
o The centre of passions.
o Where sin is conceived.
o The source of motivation.

“Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the heart.”
Proverbs 21:2

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”

Psalm 147:3

• God can’t heal what you won’t give Him access to.

“See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no ‘root of bitterness’
springs up and causes trouble…”

Hebrews 12:15

“Should you not have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had
compassion on you? And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers
until he should pay all that was due to him. So My heavenly Father also will do to you
if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.”

• Resolving heart issues requires honesty & courage.


1. Recognise we have a problem and take responsibility for change.
2. Ask the Holy Spirit to uncover the roots.

“Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties. And see if
there is any wicked way in me and lead me in the way everlasting.”

Psalm 139:23-24

“God, I invite your searching gaze into my heart. Examine me through and through;
find out everything that may be hidden within me. Put me to the test and sift through
all my anxious cares. See if there is any path of pain I’m walking on, and lead me
back to your glorious, everlasting way - the path that brings me back to you.

• Your heart is the focus of God’s attention.


• God wants us to love Him with all our heart.
• Our heart is the centre of our life… So, whatever has our heart has us.
• Our heart can be broken.
• God wants to heal our broken heart.

“For every tree is known by its own fruit…”

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you
that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed
adultery with her in his heart.”
