Production Consistency
UPI’s range of modern European machinery ensures consistent high quality of pipes and fabrications.
Polyethylene (PE) Pressure Pipes

UPI manufactures solid wall Polyethylene and Polypropylene Pressure pipes using the most up-to-
date extrusion machinery supported by technologically advanced automation systems and ultra sound
thickness controls.
The production range is from 10mm to 2000mm outside diameter (OD) with a pressure range from
3.2 bar (45 psi) to 25 bar (360 psi), and higher for special circumstances.
The standard lengths of the pipes are 12, 18 and 24 meters. However we can supply any length on
customer request. Small diameter pipes from 16mm to 110mm can be supplied in coils from 100 to
500 meters.
Pipes with special diameters and thickness can be manufactured for different uses such as re-lining
of oil pipes and industrial applications.
Our pipe production is according to the international standards ISO 4427 and ISO 4437.

Polypropylene (PP) & Polyethylene (PE) Gravity Pipes
UPI manufactures Spiral Wound Gravity Pipes by using Bauku technology to produce these
huge pipes for sea-water projects. The material and manufacturing technology can in fact be
used to manufacture any diameter of gravity pipe up to 3500mm.
Applications include seawater intake and outfalls, storm water drainage, sewerage and
industrial applications. Manholes and tanks can also be fabricated to particular requirements.

Corrugated Pipes PE & PP Fittings Fabrication
UPI has introduced twin walled pipes to their range. Using UNICOR technology UPI can now UPI fabricates PE & PP ittings to International Standards or other speciications to meet the
manufacture corrugated pipe in HDPE and PP up to 315mm dia. speciic demands of the customer.
Such pipes include: Fabricated ittings are suitable for both butt-fusion and electrofusion joints.
PP and HDPE sewerage / drainage pipes to EN 13476-3 UPI also supplies related ittings such as electro-fusion couplers, saddles and mechanical
Coilable HDPE cable conduit t to EN 50086 -2-4 ittings to provide a complete guaranteed system.
Corrugated Pipes PE and PP Uses: Corrugated Pipe Advantages: The size range of the fabricated PE ittings are from 50mm to 2000mm. Specially
conigured ittings are also manufactured according to the customers’ requirement. UPI

The service life time for splice enclosures for underground applications shall be a
minimum of 30 years.
4.02 Conduit and accessories

A. Fibre Optic Cable Conduit
The FOCC shall be provided as single-duct system.
The cable conduit shall especially be suitable for blowing in the FOC and shall
reduce the friction and abrasion of the cable during the installation process to a
minimum. The outer surface shall be clean and plan, no imperfections shall be
visible. The pipes shall be free of blisters, shrink holes and in-homogeneities that
might impair their performance in service.
The inner surface of the FOCC shall contain spiral-shaped longitudinal scoring
marks providing optimum sliding characteristics. The use of additional lubricants
during the cable installation shall be avoided.
The laying shall be possible in the temperature range of -10°C to +50°C under
consideration of the minimum bending radius.
Conduit shall be delivered on drums. Conduit sections shall normally have a
minimum length of 1.000 m. The conduit shall be waterproof, coloured black with
manufacturer standard marking.
The conduit shall be closed with dust protection cap during transportation and
installation prior to connect and at the conduit ends respectively till the cable blow
in.
Each duct of the dual-duct FOCC shall have the characteristics of DN40 according
to DIN 16874.

4.03 Conduit Couplers

For guaranteeing tensile strength and pressure-tightness of the HDPE conduit
couplers shall be used that are suitable for the respective laying procedure.

Pluggable or screwable conduit couplers should be used, if the laying procedure
does not explicitly define others.
The material used, particularly the gasket, which is required for a pressure-tight
connection, shall be resistant according to the environmental conditions and
should not alter extremely compared to the conduit.
The conduit couplers shall fulfil DN40 requirements:
 Tensile strength min. 5.500 N
 Pressure-tight up to min. 16 bar internal pressure even when bended,
pressure-tight up to 0.5 bar external pressure
 Connection of the conduits without any internal edges
 Connection detectable.
4.04 Manholes (Cable chambers)

Where necessary the cable conduits shall be terminated in underground manholes
(cable chambers).
The manholes shall be equipped with floor, side-walls, frames, covers and ladders.
A sump shall be provided in all manholes and the floor shall slightly be sloped
towards it. Minimum inner dimensions for the cable manholes shall be 100x80x120
(L x W x H in cm).
All manholes shall be sized to accommodate the splice enclosure and minimum
2x10 m spare cable maintaining the minimum bending radius of the cable. Spare
cable shall be wound and laid together with the splice enclosure in the manhole.
Manholes shall be closed tightly with an appropriate cover.
Where these covers are located at the ground level the cable manholes shall meet
the following load requirements:
 Class B125 (EN124) for sidewalks, pedestrian areas and comparable
surfaces
 Class D400 (EN124) for carriageways of roads (including pedestrian streets),
side strips of roads and parking areas used for all types of road vehicles
The location of deeply buried manholes shall be additionally marked with
Electronic Markers.
All metal hardware shall be hot dipped galvanized.
All cable manholes shall provide minimum 2 main and 2 reserve conduit / cable
entry glands to allow installation of additional cables.
The conduit / cable entry glands shall be sealed to the cable manholes walls
against the ingress of water and material. The conduit / cable entry glands
openings shall be sealed against ingress of water and material by removable caps.
4.05 Cable markers

A. General
After the completion of the FOC laying cable markers shall be used to indicate:
 Actual cable route
 Location of manhole containing FOC splice joints
