INTRODUCTION

Have you ever heard the statement that says “the church is the only
army that kills its wounded soldiers”?
This statement is a very common saying in the body of Christ. Even
though it is really painful to say this, this statement is true in most
cases. Many Christians fall into sin or do some filthy things, and instead
of helping them to get up, most members of the body of Christ kill them
at once by doing some of the following things; some chase them out
from the church, others isolate them, some gossiping about the fallen
brethren and some do things even worse than those I have cited. All
these things contribute to the spiritual death or downfall of many
brethren; many did not feel the love of God and abandoned the faith.
Some were unable to deal with the shame and ran away from God's
presence, which is how the church lost many of its heroes and valuable
soldiers.
This problem is even becoming greater nowadays, which motivated the
writing of this book. By God's grace, this book will be of great help in
helping brethren rise up again and continue to run the Christian race.
This book is for you, child of God; it is for every Christian having
issues with sin; it is for you, church leader; it is for you, soldier of the
army of Jesus, whether you are standing or you are fallen, whether you
are in good health or wounded, this book is for you.
I pray in the name of Jesus Christ that while you are going through each
page of this book, the lord will show you his love; he will help you rise
up again and give you the ability to help other brethren to rise up.

CHAPTER I

SIN AND THE DOWNFALL

It is impossible for us to talk about the downfall of a man without

talking about sin simply because the leading cause of every downfall in
the spiritual sense is sin.
From the beginning, man fell because he sinned.

Adam the First Man to Fall

The first man to experience a downfall was Adam. From the moment he
sinned, he died, and because of his sin, he caused the entire human race
to have that sinful nature.
And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the
garden thou mayest freely eat:
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of
it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. (Genesis
2:16-17).
When the bible talks about death here, it talks about the disconnection
and loss of relationship between God and man, which was the cause of
man's loss of authority over the earth and every creature living on the
earth. Man had authority over the earth and every creature until his
downfall came.
It is worth noting that whenever a man sins, it will always cause his
downfall. You cannot be playing with sin and expect to remain
standing.
When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the
righteous shall see their fall. (Proverbs 29:16).
When people live in sin, the bible says that the righteous will see their
fall. This means that the consequence of sin is always a downfall.
We can then ask ourselves, what is this downfall the Bible talks about?

Rise Again 8
Loss of Communion with God
Most times, when we talk about downfall, people think that we are
talking about the loss of money, loved ones, or any high position we
occupy, but that is not the case. The downfall of a man is not about
material things. When Adam sinned, he didn’t stop having food; he
didn’t stop having children. In fact, he had his first child after he sinned
against God. The Downfall of man is all about his relationship with
God. The worst thing that can ever happen to a man on earth is
disrupting his relationship with God. From the day Adam sinned, he
lost communion with God and could no longer freely fellowship with
God. The same thing that happened to Adam happens to every man who
finds pleasure in any sin (not only fornication but any sin), so any sin
you can think of while reading this sentence can cause a breakup in
your relationship with God.
For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).
If this issue of sin is not treated, man will never be able to rise up, and
he will suffer the final consequence of sin, which is death.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through
Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23).
The death here is the eternal suffering in the lake of fire (what we
commonly call hell fire).
And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books
were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life:
and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the
books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which
were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in
them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And
death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into
the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:12-15).

Rise Again 9
If we want to rise up, it is, therefore, important to find a remedy to this
issue of sin.

Rise Again 10
CHAPTER II

JESUS THE REMEDY FOR SIN

If you want to rise up, then you will have to deal with the main issue
that pulled you to the ground. As we said earlier, this issue is sin. The
good news is that our father, God provided a means to deal with the
issue we had with sin, and he provided for our deliverance from sin.
But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord
appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear
not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is
of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call
his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. (Matthew
1:20-21).
The solution father God gave you and me for our sins is called Jesus.
Through Jesus, Gog gave us forgiveness for our sins and the grace to be
free from sin. Today, I can boldly say that I am free from sin because of
the work of the Lord Jesus, and you, too, if you are a child of God, you
have that same grace. Hallelujah.
If you have not yet given your life to Jesus and want to be delivered
from sin and its power, you can pray this prayer. Please, I encourage
you to say the following words with your mouth because the bible says
that; If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your
heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved
(Romans 10:9).
Father, in the name of Jesus, I confess right now, and realize that I am a
sinner. I repent of all my sins. I make a 180-degree turn away from all
my sins. I change my heart, I change my mind, I change my direction,
and I turn toward Jesus Christ. I confess with my mouth that God raised
Jesus from the dead, and I believe in my heart that Jesus is alive and
operates in my life. I thank you, Lord, that I am saved, Amen.
Rise Again 11
If you prayed this prayer, I can welcome you into the family of God and
announce to you that you are eligible to apply what will be said in the
following pages of this book.

He Died For Our Sins

For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: for peradventure for the
good man someone would even dare to die but God commendeth his
love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
(Romans 5:7-8). ASV
You see how much God loves you and me? He did not wait for us to
become better people before providing for our salvation and
forgiveness. He simply decided to send Jesus to die for our sins so that
we can be able to have forgiveness for our sins. The question we can
ask ourselves is, why did God do such a thing?
The main reason God decided to send Jesus is the love he has for us
humans, and also God knew that iF we were not delivered from the
power of sin, there would never have been any reconciliation between
him and man, and also without that sacrifice, man would have still been
obliged to live with his sinful nature and hence no one could have had
the opportunity to rise up.

No Longer Slaves of Our Sinful Nature

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of
sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he
that is dead is freed from sin. (Romans 6:6-7).
Since Jesus was crucified and died, the Bible says our sinful nature was
destroyed, and we gained freedom from the power of sin so that we will
no longer live in bondage to sin. Let me give you a piece of good news;
you are no longer obliged to live in sin because you are no more
indebted to your sinful nature.

Rise Again 12
Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the
flesh. (Romans 8:12)
My dear friend, let me tell you that it is possible to live a different life
from the one you were living before this moment. Jesus paid the debt
you owed to sin and its nature and gave you a different life. He gave
you HIS life.
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are
passed away; behold, all things are become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

I have been crucified with Christ [in him I have shared his crucifixion];
it is no longer I who live, but Christ (the Messiah) lives in me: and the
life I now live in the body I live by faith in (by adherence to and reliance
on and complete trust in) the Son of God, Who loved me and gave
Himself up for me. (Galatians 2:20) AMP.

I encourage you to walk with great assurance in the work Jesus did for
you and ensure you always have this mindset so as not to allow the
devil to deceive you with thoughts that make you believe you are still
obliged to sin or live in sin. If you are in Christ, then you are no more a
sinner, but you are delivered from sin and also a partaker of Christ's
nature and holiness.

Rise Again 13
CHAPTER III

THE NEED TO RISE UP AGAIN

Before you continue, I encourage you to read the following message.

I greet you, soldier of the beautiful and great army of the Lord Jesus.
You may have fallen into sin, dropped your weapons on the ground, or
even decided to abandon the battle and stop running the Christian race.
However, I want you to know that you are critical to the army and still
have great value in the eyes of the lord. Don’t look at the wounds
you’ve received; ignore what your comrades in the army did to you but
come back to our great commander Jesus so that he will heal you. I
understand the fact that you don’t feel worthy enough to come back to
Jesus but see what he is telling you now “I love you, and I am ready to
heal you and give you strength to continue the race. If you are
willing and if you hold my hand, I will make you rise up again and
run with me again”. Jesus is waiting for you, and his arms are widely
opened for you. Please, my friend, come back to the army, you are so
precious to us, and the other members of the army are waiting for you.
Rise Up Again, my very good friend.
Before we talk about the things to do to rise up from your fall, it is
important that you get some reasons why you need to rise up. If you rise
up without knowing why you have to do that, you will not maintain
your standing. Anything you do without a good reason cannot last long.

Some Reasons You Need to Rise Up

If you don’t rise up you won’t make heaven.
But he who endures to the end will be saved. (Matthew 24:13) AMP.
The first and main reason that must drive you to rise up again is that if
you remain in your state, you will not enter heaven after judgment. Just
think about all the time you spent in the faith. Will you want to make all
Rise Again 14
these sacrifices and end up in hell just because you decided to stay on
the ground? My very good friend, I encourage you to rise up, and
continue the race.
It is better to finish what you have started than to leave it in the middle.
Jesus said the end of a thing is worth more than the beginning. If you
decide to stop the race now, then it means you have been wasting your
time because you should not have started this race. Jesus doesn’t want
you to go to hell, but if you decide to stay in your sins, he will not be
able to do anything for you. If you remain in your sins, they will take
you to hell.
But if the righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits
iniquity and does according to all the abominations that the wicked man
does, shall he live? None of his righteous deeds which he has done shall
be remembered. In his trespass that he has trespassed and in his sin that
he has sinned, in them shall he die. (Ezekiel 18:24) AMP.
You may think that because you did so many good things before you
fell into sin and decided to live in those sins, God is going to give you
access to heaven. Let me tell you that you are deceiving yourself. You
cannot live in sin and spend eternity with the lord. No matter the
number of miracles you can be doing, no matter how you can cast out
demons, let me tell you that those things won’t take you to heaven.
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the
kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in
heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not
prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in
thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto
them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
(Matthew 7: 21-23).
Your main objective should not be the miracles, prophecies,
deliverance, and so on, but your main objective should be to make sure
that your name is written in the book of life.

Rise Again 15
Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you;
but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven. (Luke
10:20).
There is another doctrine that teaches us that when we are saved, we are
saved forever, no matter what we do with our bodies. Let me tell you
that, the same way you accessed the salvation God offered you, you can
lose it if you take it for granted. You will be rejected on judgment day if
you joke with your salvation. Don’t remain on the ground thinking you
can live in sin and still go to heaven.
Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the
prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the
mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a
corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as
uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under
my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I
have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. (1 Corinthians
9: 24-27).
The great preacher of the grace of God, Apostle Paul, was conscious of
the fact that after preaching to others if he didn’t keep his body under
subjection so as not to live in sin, he would have been rejected. My
friend, please don’t play with sin thinking that you can live that life and
still succeed with God. Stop living that life, rise up and go towards the
father.

There’s an opportunity for you to rise up again.

For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked
shall fall into mischief. (Proverbs 24:16)
No matter how many times you can fall, know there is always room for
you to rise up again. Indeed, it is not normal for a child of God to sin
because it is not in his nature to practice sin, but you must understand
that if you sin, father, God always gives you the opportunity to rise up

Rise Again 16
again. If you fell once, rise up once; if you fall a thousand times, make
sure you rise up a thousand times. The most important thing is not your
fall but instead your rising. If you fall and remain on the ground, you
will never experience the mercy of God.
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if
any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the
righteous. (1 John 2:1).
The word of God was given to you so that you should not sin, but God
continues by saying that if you fall, you must know and be conscious of
the presence of an advocate or lawyer that is ready to defend you and
plead in your favor so that you rise up. Jesus is giving you room to rise
up; why you wouldn’t hold his hand and allow him to make you rise
and stand so that you continue the race?

You no more have the nature of sin

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of
sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he
that is dead is freed from sin. Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe
that we shall also live with him: Knowing that Christ being raised from
the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. For in
that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto
God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but
alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:6-11).

From the moment you became born again, your old man was crucified
with Christ, and the body of sin was destroyed so that you should not be
a slave to sin anymore.
Knowing this, why will you continue to be in bondage to sin? My dear
friend, it is time for you to say no to sin because it is an illegal master in
your life. From the day you accepted Christ, your master changed. You
were once a slave to sin because you had that nature in you, but now,

Rise Again 17
Jesus Christ is your new master. Stop living under the yoke of sin but
carry the yoke of Jesus. His yoke is better to carry because it is lighter.
But ye did not so learn Christ; if so be that ye heard him, and were
taught in him, even as truth is in Jesus: that ye put away, as concerning
your former manner of life, the old man, that waxeth corrupt after the
lusts of deceit; and that ye be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and
put on the new man, that after God hath been created in righteousness
and holiness of truth. Wherefore, putting away falsehood, speak ye truth
each one with his neighbor: for we are members one of another. Be ye
angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: neither
give place to the devil. (Ephesians 4:20-27)

It is time to stop giving place to the devil in your life. The devil has
gained enough ground in your life; put on the new man created after
God in righteousness and holiness (that is your new nature) and start
living the life the lord Jesus has for you. Please never forget that you are
no longer obliged to live a life of sin because you no longer owe
anything to your old sinful nature.

You are not a debtor to your old nature

Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the
flesh. (Romans 8:12)
You owe nothing to your flesh, you don’t owe any obedience to your
lustful desires, and you are not a debtor to your old sinful nature. You
must understand and accept that you are free from the power of sin, and
now you have the choice to say NO TO SIN. Before, you were obliged
to live the way you lived because it was your nature, but now, God,
through the finished work of Christ, changed your nature, and now sin
is no more a normal thing for you.
Just try to imagine someone forcing a fish to climb a tree. That fish
won’t succeed because its nature doesn’t permit it to do that. Fished by

Rise Again 18
nature were created to live in water and swim, so they cannot climb
trees. You are exactly like that fish; you no longer have the nature of
sin, so I don’t understand why you want to force yourself to live as a
sinner again. The faster you accept your new nature and live according
to it, the better it will be for you. It is time to accept that freedom from
sin and live a life of freedom with Jesus.

You are important to the body of Christ.

Apostle Arome Osayi, in his book “Go into all the world,” says that
“every soldier knows that a wounded soldier is as valuable as the
strongest within the formation.” My dear friend, you must know that
you are very important to the body of Christ, and you have much value
in our eyes. This is the main reason for this book, to make you know
how important you are to us, your comrades in the army of Jesus, and
consequently, you are essential in Jesus’ eyes too.
One day, I was discussing with one of our church leaders, and he told
me something that changed my life and my way of thinking. These are
the words he told me:
“You are a general, so you don’t have to stay on the ground”
From that moment, I understood that as a soldier in the army of the
great commander Jesus, there is no other option for me than to rise up
and continue the battle.

Many people are looking up to you

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of
witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily

Rise Again 19
beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us
(Hebrews 12:1).
Maybe you don’t know yet but many people are observing you, and if
you decide to remain on the ground, it is going to cause the downfall of
many others. You may not be thinking about yourself, but please take
time and think about the people surrounding you, family members, your
brethren, the people under your leadership, the people to whom you
preached the gospel, your neighbors, and any other person that could be
seeing you as an example to follow. Please, think about those people
and lay aside every weight and the sin that can surround you. Your
rising can bring many other people to the lord. Just by rising up, you
can save many lives. It is time to rise up and be a blessing to others.

Rise Again 20
CHAPTER IV
HOW TO RISE UP FROM THE FALL

Falling is not a fatality, but it becomes a fatality when you accept to

remain where you fell. The most important thing is not the fall but
instead when you rise up. A child of God may fall, but if he decides to
stay on the ground, then he will lose so many things, including the most
important thing, which is their communion with God. If you accept
remaining on the ground as your fate, then it becomes a fatality.

Refusing the Fall as your Fate

If you want to rise up, you first have to refuse the downfall as your fate.
You can still live the life of Christ if you decide to do so. Stop saying
your fate is to remain on the ground or go to hell.
I remember one day, I went to preach the gospel with two other
brothers, and we encountered a lady that decided to live the former
sinful life she had, or as we say in our context, she was a backslider.
While we were discussing and sharing the gospel with her, she told us
something that shocked me. She told us that she was already
predestined to go to hell and that there was no more hope for her.
There is this fallacy people call the gospel of predestination. This
message says that before men were created, God predestined some to go
to heaven and others to hell. This message is a big lie from the pit of
hell. No living human being is already predestined to go to hell. All
men were created with equal chances to make heaven.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
(John 3:16).
My friend, the bible says that whosoever believes in Jesus Christ will
not perish but will have everlasting life. This means that, we all have

Rise Again 21
equal chances to be saved because the platform to receive salvation is
the same for all men. That platform is the lord Jesus.
You are not condemned to stay on the ground; you can rise up again if
and only if you refuse to accept your fall as your fate.

The Grace of the Lord Jesus

You may have fallen, but the grace of the Lord Jesus is great enough to
help you rise up. You need to be conscious that the grace of Jesus is still
available for you. There is room for forgiveness.
If you want to rise up, you must acknowledge the grace of the lord.
Indeed, sin is not normal for you as a child of God, but if you fall,
always remember this:
My little children, these things write I unto you that ye may not sin. And
if any man sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the
righteous: and he is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only,
but also for the whole world. (1 John 2:1-2).
You may sin, but a person is there to defend your case; his name is
Jesus. The grace of Jesus is sufficient to help you rise up, and you must
use it well.
To enjoy the grace of Jesus, you have to repent of your sins and ask for
forgiveness.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and
to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 john 1:9).
If you want to be forgiven, you need to ask for forgiveness from God.
The Bible says if we confess our sins, he is faithful to forgive us and
cleanse us from all unrighteousness. When you ask for forgiveness from
God, you have to confess those sins individually. Don’t just pray a
general prayer; instead, identify the sins and ask God for forgiveness.
God is a merciful God, and his mercy endures forever. One of the most
interesting things about God is that when he forgives, he forgets about
that sin.

Rise Again 22
And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man
his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from
the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will
forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. (Jeremiah
31:34).
For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their
iniquities will I remember no more. (Hebrews 8:12).
See how merciful and kind our God is; he forgives our sins and makes
sure he doesn’t remember them again. It may seem difficult to
understand, but you must know that God is far better than the best man
on earth. Can you just decide to tap into his grace, ask for forgiveness
and receive the forgiveness of your sins?

No Reason to be Guilty
When you ask God to forgive you, the bible says he forgives and
forgets, so you don’t have to bear the guilt of that sin anymore. I know
that the sin may sometimes come to your remembrance, and the devil
will take advantage of it to keep you guilty, but you don’t have to yield
to that guilt. When God forgives you, he justifies you, and nobody has
the right to accuse you.
Who shall lay anything to the charge of God`s elect? It is God that
justifieth; who is he that condemneth? It is Christ Jesus that died, yea
rather, that was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God,
who also maketh intercession for us. (Romans 8:33-34).
The devil no longer has the right to accuse you or make you feel guilty
for a sin God has forgiven. Tell him to go away with his accusations
when he wants to bring guilt because God has already forgiven you, and
Jesus is interceding for you.

Don’t Run Away From His Presence

Rise Again 23
The biggest mistake a Christian can make after sinning is to run away
from the presence of God, and this is where the trap of Satan in the lives
of children of God lies. The devil knows that if he succeeds in keeping
you away from the presence of God, he will have you for himself.
Let us, therefore, come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may
obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16).
To obtain mercy and grace, you must go to the throne of grace with
boldness. Don’t be afraid of going towards father God because of sin.
All he needs from you is that you come with a repentant heart and be
ready to stop committing the sins you found yourself in.
God is the only person that can lift you up when you are down, so don’t
run away from his presence when you fall down. He says his love is
bigger when you think your sin is too big. You do not need to run from
his presence, but you have everything to gain by going toward him.
Like a child, run to the father to obtain his grace and mercy. He is ready
to grant you his grace; all you need is to go to the throne of grace with
boldness to obtain mercy.

Fellowship with the Brethren

One great tool God gave us is that he has put us all in a family. Brethren
in the lord Jesus constitute a treasure of inestimable value given to us
by God. To rise up, you must spend time with the brethren and expose
your problems to them. No Christian can live outside the community of
children of God and expect to succeed in your Christian life. God has
placed something very powerful in the community, and it is up to you to
exploit it.
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye
may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth
much. (James 5:16)
To rise up, you must also apply the principle of confessing your sins to
brethren so they pray for you. I know you can be afraid that after

Rise Again 24
confessing your sins to a person, that person can go and expose you in
front of everybody, but I am sure there is a mature brother or sister in
your church community that you can trust. Go towards that brother or
sister, confess your sin, ask for their prayers and allow them to follow
you up until you deal with that issue.

Be Ready to Lose Some Privileges

This part addresses those with a position in the church and those whose
sin also affects others. If you sin, be ready to confess your sins and ask
for forgiveness from people. Sometimes, because of the sin, you will
lose your church position. Maybe you are a choir leader, a pastor, a
deacon, or a youth leader. Please don’t hesitate to lose that position if
you want to rise. Just try to see and compare if your position has more
value than the salvation of your soul. If, like me, you judge that your
soul has more value than that position, then accept the punishment you
can receive and go forward in your relationship with God. Maybe you
cheated on your spouse; go and ask for forgiveness from that spouse
and be ready to see her not talking to you for an extended period, be
prepared to have a disruption in your relationship with the person, but
don’t hide your sin. You sinned and if the sin brings consequences, just
bear the consequences.

Rise Again 25
CHAPTER V
AFTER RISING UP, IT IS BETTER TO KEEP STANDING

In the previous chapters, you saw what to do to rise up and continue the
race but don’t you see it can be better for you to keep standing while
you’re still running the Christian race? I’m sure you want to know how
you can do that.
Therefore put on God’s armor, that you may be able to resist and stand
your ground on the evil day [of danger], and, having done all [the crisis
demands], to stand [firmly in your place]. (Ephesians 6:13) AMP.
The will of God for you is not only that you rise up but also that you
remain standing. It is good to rise up after a fall, but it is better to avoid
falling. In this chapter, we will make a journey through some essential
tips that will help you remain standing.
Building a Consistent Prayer Life
A Christian that doesn’t pray is a Christian that has already fainted.
And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to
pray, and not to faint (Luke 18:1).
From this parable Jesus gave, we see that he established what happens
to a Christian when he doesn’t pray always, he faints. My friend, if you
don’t want to faint and fall down, you always have to pray. Prayer is the
most essential activity a Christian must do; it is the moment you spend
some good time communicating with the father. When you cease
communicating with the father, you are disconnected from your source,
and the same way, a branch that doesn’t receive nourishment from the
tree it originates will fall from that tree and wither, if you stop
communicating with the lord constantly, you will stop receiving
nourishment from his presence and hence you may likely fall. Prayer is
not an option; it is a necessity.
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is
willing, but the flesh is weak. (Mark 14:38).
Rise Again 26
If you don’t want to succumb to temptation, you need a consistent
prayer life. You can’t fold your arms when it concerns prayer and
expect that temptation won’t overcome you.
Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy
to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before
the Son of man. (Luke 21:36).
One of the reasons why many children of God of our present generation
always find themselves in many scandals and always fall into
temptation is because many don’t pray always. The more I spend time
discussing with brethren in the lord I make a very sad remark, and that
remark is that the average Christian doesn’t have a personal prayer life.
Many pray only when they are in church or when they are in groups,
and when they can see a Christian that prays an average of 45 minutes
per day, they will see them as a super spiritual person. Why is it that
prayer, which is supposed to be a normal activity for Christians, has
become so strange to them nowadays?
I had an experience with some brethren on different occasions; when I
visit some of them, sometimes I feel moved to pray with them for a
while, and when I just engage the topic, they become annoyed, and their
mood changes. Some of them that even accept to pray just do it as a
formality, not out of love for prayer.
Many preachers agree to say that prayer is for a Christian what
breathing activity is for a human being. This means that, the day you
stop praying, you will lose energy and die a spiritual death. This is the
reason why many Christians can’t exercise power, and they all depend
on their pastors and then turn them into spiritual gurus.
Wake up please, and start praying. If you are too busy to pray, it means
you are busier than God expects you to be. Always seek time to pray
and

Rise Again 27
spend time with God. I am not talking about praying just to use the
available time when you are in your car but also to put some time aside
for God.
But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast
shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father
which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly (Matthew 6:6).
When Jesus talks about entering the closet to pray, it also connotes the
fact of putting a special time aside for prayer. You can joke with
everything but never joke with something that has a role in your
relationship with God. Don’t joke with your prayer life, and don’t allow
anyone to touch it; if somebody is a problem in your prayer life, avoid
that person. Your prayer life is precious, and you must keep it with all
diligence.
If we call ourselves disciples of Jesus, then we have to follow the
example of Jesus, and one of the things Jesus was always doing is that
he was praying and he always put some time aside to go and fellowship
with the father. Prayer was the secret Jesus had to keep standing amid
temptation. The Bible says that Jesus was tempted in all manners, but
he did not sin.
For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling
of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet
without sin. (Hebrews 4:15).
What was the thing that helped Jesus to keep standing despite all the
temptations that came to him? The secret is prayer. That is the reason
why he asked the disciples to watch and pray so as not to fall into
temptation.
When you spend quality time in prayers, you become filled with the
Holy Spirit.

Full of the Holy Spirit and Led by Him

Rise Again 28
One of the direct effects of a consistent quality prayer life is that it is
going to keep you full of the Holy Spirit. When he fills you, if you
accept to be led by Him, he is going to keep you away from sin and
errors.
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all
truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear,
that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come. (John 16:13).
The Holy Spirit is the person of the Godhead that has the responsibility
to lead the church in a life without error and sin. Neglecting the Holy
Spirit in your Christian walk is a big mistake that nobody has to make.
The consequences of neglecting him are never good.
PETER, an apostle (a special messenger) of Jesus Christ, [writing] to
the elect exiles of the dispersion scattered (sowed) abroad in Pontus,
Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, who were chosen and
foreknown by God the father and consecrated (sanctified, made holy) by
the Spirit to be obedient to Jesus Christ (the Messiah) and to be
sprinkled with [His] blood: May grace (spiritual blessing) and peace be
given you in increasing abundance [that spiritual peace to be realized
in and through Christ, freedom from fears, agitating passions, and
moral conflicts]. (1 Peter 1:1-2) AMP.
We can all see that, if we can be sanctified or even consecrated to God,
it is the work of the Holy Spirit. He is the one that gives us the ability to
be obedient to Jesus Christ and his words. If you want to be successful
in the Christian walk, if you want to keep on standing, you need to be
full of him and accept his leadership in your life.
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the
Spirit (Ephesians 5:18)
The bible recommends us to be filled with the spirit instead of living a
life of debauchery. Take the decision of being always full with the Holy
Spirit from today and abandon the life of sin and debauchery you were
living. The Holy Spirit has many more things in store for you, but it is

Rise Again 29
up to you to access those things. It starts with a decision and then
corresponding actions must follow.

Be Rigorous with Yourself

There is no Christian that will remain standing if he or she is not
rigorous with him/herself. No matter how anointed you can be, if you
don’t treat yourself rigorously, you will keep on living in sin. You must
make the decision to live a holy life despite the temptations that will
come your way. Temptations will always come, but your reaction in the
midst of temptations will determine your success in this race. Don’t
think that you are too strong when sin comes, if you have to run away
from it please make sure you do it.
The bible gives us so many examples of people who took the decision
to live in holiness despite the temptation that came towards them. Let us
look at some of them;

Job
I DICTATED a covenant (an agreement) to my eyes; how then could I
look [lustfully] upon a girl? (Job 31:1) AMP.
I believe that you have already heard about Job, the Bible says that God
acknowledged the fact that he was a righteous man. From this scripture
we can see one of the secrets that made him have a successful life in the
domain of righteousness. He imposed or dictated a covenant to his eyes
so that he won’t lustfully look at a girl. You can impose that lifestyle on
yourself too.

Joseph
And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her
eyes upon Joseph; and she said, lie with me. But he refused, and said
unto his master's wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in
the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand; There is

Rise Again 30
none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back anything
from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this
great wickedness, and sin against God? And it came to pass, as she
spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by
her, or to be with her. And it came to pass about this time that Joseph
went into the house to do his business; and there was none of the men of
the house there within. And she caught him by his garment, saying, lie
with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out.
(Genesis 39:7-12)
Joseph was a young man of about 17 years old but he decided not to fall
into the temptation of having sex with the wife of Potiphar. He could
surely have some advantages if he decided to have a relationship with
that woman but he said he could not do such wickedness and sin against
God. You may be young and you think that temptation is so strong that
sin becomes unavoidable for you but you can act like Joseph and just
run.

Paul
But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any
means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway
(1 Corinthians 9:27).
If you want to have a successful life of sanctification, you have to treat
your body harshly sometimes and subject it under a certain discipline or
else you will not. Follow the example of Paul and bring your body into
subjection.
My friend, you have to understand that sanctification is not an option
but it is a necessity for everyone who wants to make heaven and also be
useful to God on earth.

Spiritual Warfare to Remain Standing

Rise Again 31
Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the
wiles of the devil. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but
against the principalities, against the powers, against the world-rulers
of this darkness, against the spiritual [hosts] of wickedness in the
heavenly [places]. Wherefore take up the whole armor of God, that ye
may be able to withstand in the evil day, and, having done all, to stand.
(Ephesians 6:11-13).
As a child of God, you must not be ignorant of the evil plans of the
devil. He will always seek to put you down but thanks to God because
he gave us complete armors so that we will be able to fight back the
devil and stand. The armor is not only to withstand evil days, but also to
stand when you think everything is over.
I have seen many brothers and sisters having great victories against the
devil but after those victories, they fall into sin. Always remember this,
Jesus was tempted after fasting for 40 days and nights. You might think
that you defeated the devil but be careful, he never gets tired.
When I talk about spiritual warfare, some people say they don’t like it.
They prefer to stay in their corner, refusing to fight, forgetting that
whether you like it or not, you are already in a fight. The day you
become a child of God, you automatically become a soldier and you are
engaged in a fight called “the fight of faith”.
Be sober, be watchful: your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion,
walketh about, seeking whom he may devour, whom withstand stedfast
in your faith, knowing that the same sufferings are accomplished in
your brethren who are in the world. (1 Peter 5:8-9).
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee
from you (James 4:7).
The devil will never seek your permission before targeting you. He is
like a roaring lion seeking the person he will devour. If you don’t want
to be devoured, you have to resist him with firm faith so that he will run
away from you. You must always have the mentality of a soldier and

Rise Again 32
not that of a civilian. You have to always fight in order to keep on
standing up.

Stop Hiding
This is one tool that I’ve been using for years and it still helps me till
date. Don’t hide your identity as a child of God wherever you find
yourself. Sometimes you may want to commit a sin but the fact that
people around you know that you are a child of God will help you.
Sometimes it happens that I want to do something bad and before I even
do it, somebody besides me will just say “so, pastor you too can do this
kind of thing?” immediately I hear that I will just stop doing that thing
and repent. Also, when I'm in an environment where I know people are
aware of my identity, I make sure I don’t do something that will
discourage them from coming to Christ. I always make sure my lifestyle
will also be a way to preach the gospel so I avoid certain things. I
encourage you to stop hiding and declare your identity everywhere you
go.
It is not normal for a person to be a child of God and nobody in his/her
family, neighborhood, and even friends know that the person is a child
of God. This will only expose you to more danger. If people around you
know that you are still like them, they will always push you to do the
things they do. It is better for you to declare your identity to everyone
even if it can cost you some friends but at least you will reduce your
level of exposure to sin.

Hide Yourself
I have seen a phenomenon with many youths today, they have been
called by God but they directly want to dive into ministry. Some are not
even called but they start taking titles that don’t correspond. If you
don’t hide and prepare yourself before you engage in such things, you
will have attacks you can’t handle. Some people have been attacked by

Rise Again 33
the enemy simply because they engaged themselves in battles that were
not theirs and it did not end well for them. You must know that not
everyone is called into the fivefold ministry, don’t enter in the battle
reserved to these people if God did not call and send you. You must not
only be called but you must be sent too.
There is no successful man in the kingdom of God who just had success
without preparing himself for some time in the presence of God. It can
take many years but if you pay that price you will be able to withstand
the battles.

Don’t Accept any Kind of Person as your Friend

Do not be so deceived and misled! Evil companionships (communion,
associations) corrupt and deprave good manners and morals and
character. (1 Corinthians 15:33) AMP.
If the bible asks us not to deceive ourselves, it means that there are
people that deceive themselves with the fact that they will associate
themselves to people with bad character and they will not be influenced.
You can’t be a friend to a liar and you don’t lie, you can’t have a
fornicator as friend and you are not corrupted by sexual immorality in
one way or another.
I am not asking you to stop talking to people that don’t have good
behavior but you don’t have to make them become your friends. They
can be acquaintances or colleagues or even classmates but not your
friend. Even in church, everybody must not be your friend. It is not
because you are in the same church with a person that you are forced to
become a friend to that person. Even some brethren are counted among
those evil companionship the bible is talking about.
Another mistake some of us make is that we go close to people who
enjoy living in sin with the hope of changing them. Let me ask you this
question: “what is the percentage of friends that are unbelievers did you
convert since you are a child of God?” Some become friends to

Rise Again 34
unbelievers, they deceive themselves by saying they want to bring them
to Christ and they spend years close to that person without even
preaching the gospel to them. Stop deceiving yourself with that thought.
Some even go to the extent of getting married to unbelievers with the
hope of converting them. Experience has proven that, most of the
persons who make associations with the wrong people become
corrupted. The bible is not wrong on this point, evil companionship
corrupt good manners, morals and character. Filter the type of friends
you have because they will determine your rising or your downfall.

Rise Again 35
CHAPTER VI

HELPING THE WOUNDED SOLDIERS TO HEAL AND RISE UP

One of the greatest and most beautiful things you can do for the
kingdom of God is to help the brethren that are down to rise up. If you
are the type of brethren that always sends away the wounded or weak
brothers from you, you are not helping the kingdom of God.
Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations
(Romans 14:1).
Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the
feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
(1 Thessalonians 5:14)
Please do not reject the brethren that have weaknesses simply because
they committed a sin different from yours. You must instead help them
to grow and become stronger. If you do that, you will do much good to
the kingdom of God and the interests of Christ.
I was watching a series on TV and there is something that marked me
negatively about what happens in churches. The pastor had sex with
many sisters in church and they became pregnant, the police arrested
the pastor but the worst thing is that, those sister were chased out of the
church and they were called sinners. When I saw that scene I was
disgusted because they did not even think about helping those sisters to
rise up again but instead, they exposed them to the devil.
If a brother is living in sin and you do nothing to help him, you already
have a responsibility in the downfall of that brother. Don’t allow your
brother to fall when you can be a solution to that brother.
You may ask yourself the question to know what are the things you can
do so as to help the brother or sister that has difficulties in the faith,
here are some of the things you may do to help that person;
Offer a copy of this book to the person.
Rise Again 36
Pray for the person until the person becomes strong.
Follow up the person to know how the person is growing.
Share the word of God with that person.
Share your experiences with the person and also give words of
encouragement to the person.
Most importantly, don’t reject the person, but instead show love to the
person.

Rise Again 37
CONCLUSION
I want to congratulate you for reaching this level of the great journey
you started by reading this book. I pray that the seed that has been
sowed in your heart through this book will keep on growing and bear
much fruits.
I want to conclude this book by encouraging you to be a person that
helps others rise up. Don’t keep this treasure to yourself, share it with
others and share the lessons you got from it with others too.
The main things you have to keep from this book are the following;
God is not happy when you are down.
God wants you to rise up
God gives room for you to rise up whenever you fall.
The most important thing is not the downfall, but it is your rising.
It is better to remain standing than to rise up from a fall.
God wants you to be a person that helps others to rise up when they fall.
I pray that God bless you abundantly and give you the grace to keep on
standing your ground in the name of Jesus Christ.
