Falcon interiors are the pinnacle of style, craftsmanship and the pride of
those who carefully assembled them. This craftsmanship and attention
to detail is what sets Falcon interiors apart, and as such require equally
rigorous care. This Cabin Care Guide will provide recommendations and
instructions to protect this meticulously crafted Falcon interior.
Preventive maintenance is the most effective way to get the most life
and usage out of a Falcon interior. The materials selected for each
aircraft are of the highest quality, and as such it is highly recommended
to carefully consider the technique needed for cleaning and maintaining
each material.
All of the materials that make up each Falcon cabin interior are listed in
the “Section 6” Interior Finishing Specification of the Aircraft Completion
Specification for reference.
The recommendations outlined in this document are presented in
good faith, information has been assembled from each vendor for most
common materials and finishes used in your aircraft.
The cleaning recommendations for one material may not be appropriate
or compatible with another, so please exercise caution by following these
recommendations.
Test products on inconspicuous area on a selection of cabin materials
to ensure no immediate adverse effect. In the event a stain does not
respond to the treatments recommended contact either the Falcon
Command Center or an approved aircraft interior cleaner.
For any questions related to maintaining and caring for Falcon interiors,
please contact Dassault for assistance.

COCKPIT

No disinfection operation involving the use of a fogger should be

performed in or around the cockpit. Avoid spraying disinfectants directly
onto cockpit equipment, instruments and displays. Use sanitizing wipes
or spray liquid disinfectant on a soft cloth prior to applying on the
equipment.

Disinfecting agents are more efficient when applied on dry and clean
surfaces.

The following cleaning tasks are available in the Aircraft Maintenance

CABIN

Aircraft operators should inform crew members regarding the general

disinfecting procedures to be applied in the cockpit and cabin. Crew
members should also be provided with sufficient and appropriate
disinfectants to avoid crew members using their own self-provided
disinfection products which may harm materials.

Additionally this will avoid possible chemical reactions between different

disinfecting agent residues, which could have corrosive effects on the
materials and adverse effects on crew and passenger health.

For cabin disinfection:

• Aerosols projected by a fogging machine may be used, but only
in the cabin and the baggage compartment and on condition that
the chemical composition is compliant with the recommendations
below. No aerosol product shall be projected using a fog machine
into the cockpit.
• In addition, Dassault recommends that all the glass cabin surfaces be
dried immediately following disinfection.

Due to the delicate nature of Falcon cabin materials, and the absence
of any testing data, Dassault does not recommend the use of hydrogen
peroxide or disinfectants containing chlorine, due to their strong
corrosive effects.

Instead, Dassault recommends the use of alcohol based disinfectants

and only isopropanol-based (also named isopropryl alcohol-based)
disinfectants. The other type of alcohol-based disinfectants (n-propanol-
based and ethanol-based disinfectants) are not authorized.
DISINFECTION GUIDELINES 7
Ch Su

The Falcon Consumable Products Manual (CPM) references the

AMS1452 RTU disinfectant by Zep Industries.

For cockpit and cabin materials (excluding displays), Dassault only

recommends the use of isopropanol/ isopropyl alcohol –based
disinfectants with an alcohol concentration between 60 and 80%.

For cockpit and cabin displays, you can refer to Honeywell Service
Information Letter D202004000758 entitled “Alternate cleaning
solution usage in flight deck”. Otherwise, Dassault only recommends
the use of isopropanol/ isopropyl alcohol –based - disinfectants with
an alcohol concentration lower than 50%, which will clean but does not
properly disinfect.

The following table contains the approximate volume of the respective

Falcon cabins, including the baggage compartment:

No dedicated testing of these products has been performed on any Falcon

cabin materials or furnishing so far. Therefore, Dassault cannot guarantee that
the extensive use of the above-mentioned products will not have unintended
effects on the cabin materials. This is especially true for delicate soft good
materials such as carpets, sidewalls, window shades, leather, upholstery
and varnished elements in the long term. The products highlighted in yellow

The disinfected areas must then be ventilated for 30 minutes following

disinfection to allow proper evaporation of the alcohol.

If the above mentioned disinfectants are not available, Operators can

reference the disinfectant Technical Data Sheet (TDS) and Material
Safety Data Sheet (MSDS, SDS) to verify the following:
• The product contains the above-mentioned recommended disinfecting
agents in the appropriate concentration.
• The product does not include strong acids or alkali components to limit
the risk of damage on cabinetry components.

Dassault recommends testing the disinfectant products in

inconspicuous areas to ensure that there are no immediate adverse
effects prior to widespread application throughout the aircraft interior.

DISINFECTING GUIDELINES

The Coronavirus can live on an inanimate object anywhere between a

few hours to 9 days (on plastic).
Elevated temperatures (about 30°C/85°F) shorten the life of the virus
down to hours, whereas temperatures as low as 4°C/40°F increase the
life of the virus up to 28 days.

High relative humidity increases the persistence of the virus

Therefore, it is recommended extra care be used to disinfect the cabin
in colder climates and, when possible, park the aircraft in a hot and dry
area for at least 4 hours before performing cabin disinfection.

PRECAUTIONS
• NOTIFY personnel outside the aircraft about ongoing disinfection
activities inside the aircraft.
• OPEN the passenger door for fresh air.
• WEAR gloves and protective clothing.
• USE an appropriate mask (suitable for SARS-CoV-2) and eye protection.

WARNINGS

• Do not let disinfectants contact your skin, eyes or mouth.

• Follow the disinfectant manufacturer’s instructions.
• Get medical aid if irritation occurs.

CONCERNING GENERAL MAINTENANCE

In reviewing information collected on this subject there are some recurring

themes:
1. Vacuum: a regular vacuuming of the aircraft interior will avoid trace of
dust. When vacuuming, use a machine that does not have a beater bar.
If this type is not available, then remove the beater bar from the machine.
2. Spills: blot up all spills with a clean towel at once, even if the spill is only
water.
3. Carpet: Do not over wet the carpet when cleaning (spot or overall).
4. 100% wool carpets: use cold water extraction method for cleaning.
Do not steam the carpet.
5. After cleaning: do not walk on damp areas of carpet until thoroughly dry
or rapid re-soiling, matting or pile reversal may occur.
6. Rotary brush: do not use a rotary brush for cleaning.
7. Carpet covering: do not use plastic carpet coverings, vinyl coverings,
(or any other coverings) with an adhesive or velcro backing that can
come into contact with the carpet surface. Use a cotton canvas for
protecting carpets during maintenance.
8. Beverage and food spills: they are frequent in transportation industry.
Resulting stains can be dealt with as recommended on the following
pages, but cannot be entirely avoided.

Cleaning should always be performed by a qualified professional. Make sure

that all solutions used have a pH level between 5 and 7. After cleaning, be sure
all carpets are thoroughly flushed using a water extraction system containing a
water rinse of pH level 5 to 7. This can be accomplished by using common white
vinegar with water. After rinsing, thoroughly dry carpet with fans at comfortable
room temperature, hot air is not necessary and not recommended.

Note: In case of heavily used aircraft, we suggest a full extraction cleaning every six to eight weeks.

WOOL AND SILK SPOT CLEANING

In case of:

Beverages – If the spot is water based, use a dry white terry cloth towel
to blot the spot, applying moderate hand pressure. If the spots persist,
use club soda to moisten area and blot until spot is removed. Use
Capture to remove any residual discoloration.
Food Spills – Remove as much of the solid matter as possible. Blot up
as much of the liquid as possible. Use club soda to re-wet the area and
blot again (wool only --do not re-wet silk). Use Capture for water based
residual. Use Zep-X-Out (or equivalent) for grease or oil.

Lav Spill – Blot immediately, apply club soda and blot repeatedly. After
area is clean, blot once more using a club soda and vinegar solution. Use
one teaspoon white vinegar per 6 oz. club soda. Do not use vinegar rinse
on silk carpet. There is no cure for lav spills. Clean as best you can and
then stop. Further work or rubbing will destroy carpet.

Grease, Oil, Tar or Asphalt -Remove as much as possible without

pressing it deeper into the pile or enlarging the affected area. Apply dry
cleaning solvent to a clean dry towel. Rub towel gently on the spot with
a soft circular motion. Immediately blot with a dry portion of the towel.
Repeat until it is removed. Do not over work. Where possible use Zep-X-
Out or Capture.

Anti-static -Anti-static treatment is provided in your Kalogridis cleaning

kit should you wish to use on small area. In most cases, anti-static should
not be needed. However, should you experience static, simply spray the
problem area lightly and allow it to dry. Repeat as needed. Do not over
spray. Allow to dry before walking on the carpet.
CARPET 15
Ch Su
apter mmary

Notes: Do not squirt solvent into the carpet. It can dissolve the backing
materials destroying your carpet. Zep-X-Out (or equivalent) may be
used in place of dry cleaning solvent. Do not over spray carpet. Silk pile
may be brushed with a soft hair brush (no metal bristles) to remove any
matting caused by blotting. Do not brush silk pile if it appears normal
after blotting. Do not over work silk or wool areas as matting and fuzzing
may occur.

Even though your carpet has been manufactured with the highest
quality wool and silk yarns, some shedding and sprouting is occasionally
experienced with any new carpet. Should this occur, cut off with scissors
any high sprouting yarn. Normal vacuuming will eliminate fuzzing. With
proper care, your carpet will give years of service.

ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR SILK CARPET

1. For carpets containing silk, water extraction should not be done.

Instead, dry cleaning is recommended. Do not steam clean the carpet.

2. When blotting spills, use only a clean, white terry cloth towel. It is best
to thoroughly dry affected area in the cleaning process by using a
small fan and periodic rubbing with the terry cloth towel.

3. When vacuuming, use a machine that does not have a beater bar.
If this type is not available, then remove the beater bar from
the machine being used. Vacuuming should occur frequently.
After each flight is preferred.

4. Only mild dry cleaning agents or materials found in your Kalogridis

cleaning kit are recommended (consult with a dry cleaninwg expert).
CARPET 16
Ch Su
apter mmary

CONCERNING TOPICAL TREATMENTS

We find that many topical treatments tend to alter the color of the
carpet, as well as, damage the backing and finish in some cases.
Because wool is a uniquely soil retardant fiber, the application of topical
treatments is not necessary and we do not recommend their use on our
product.

STAINS

The key to successful stain control is immediate action. Prompt attention

to all spills is important to avoid the stain penetrating the pile fibers
and becoming fixed. Following are recommendations on how to treat
common spills on wool and silk.
Blot up all spills at once with a clean white terry-cloth towel. Take your
time in cleaning. However, do not overwork the yarn by rubbing too hard
as this may untwist the pile and change its texture. At each stage, blot
up as much moisture as possible before going onto the next procedure.
Note: Before applying any shampoo or cleaning chemicals to your carpet,
test for color fastness on a sample or an inconspicuous part of the
carpet. Be sure pH is between 5 – 7.

CLEANING 100% WOOL

(HWE - HOT WATER EXTRACTION)

Test cleaning method in an inconspicuous part of the carpet before

cleaning entire carpet:
• Vacuum carpet
• Spot treat carpets following a wool-safe guide
• Pre-spray the carpet (Neutral to slightly alkaline detergent 7-8 pH) to
loosen the dirt/soil.
• Lightly agitate the pre-spray into the pile to break the surface tension
allowing the detergent into the pile.
- Use a soft bristle brush if needed
• Spray and extract with warm water (Never more than 150 degrees)
- If “restoration:”
○ Use warm water with detergent (7-8 alkalinity)
○ Spray and extract multiple times to “flush” the soil from the
fibers
- If slightly soiled: Rinse
• Rinse (slightly acidic – 5-6 pH) and extract – This will neutralize any
residual detergent.
- Want to end up with the carpet pH level being slightly less than
neutral (less than 7 on the pH scale)
• Dry extract carpet to ensure release of excess moisture
- Add fans to dry rapidly and thoroughly

CARPET MAINTENANCE GUIDELINES

Preventive Measures
Place wool entrance mats at all doorways, including the base of the
stairs, to prevent dirt or soil being brought into the aircraft.

Topical Treatments
Tai Ping Carpets does not recommend or approve the application of any
topical fibre sealants or protectants for any of our aviation carpets. While
products on the market may claim to reject or prevent soil and stains,
there is no guarantee that the overall appearance and performance of
the carpet or rug will not be compromised.

Interim Maintenance
Vacuum regularly, slowly and methodically, to assure the long-term
appearance and performance of the carpet.

Be sure to use a lightweight model certified by the Carpet and Rug

Institute. Choose one with no or very soft bristles, as beater bars or hard
bristles can damage fibres. Also check nozzles and attachments for
cracks, which might snag the pile. Rigorous testing has concluded that
the Oreck Magnesium vacuum is the best choice for Tai Ping Carpets.
Certified through the Carpet & Rug Institute’s Seal of Approval program,
these vacuums are readily available for local purchase.

Once a carpet appears dirty, it is already past the interim stage of

maintenance and will require deep cleaning.

Deep Cleaning
While interim maintenance is paramount to the desired appearance and
performance of a carpet, over time, and for heavy soil, deep cleaning will
be necessary. For this we only recommend the services of IICRC (Institute
Inspection Cleaning Restoration Certification) firms employing IICRC
certified cleaning technicians.
CARPET 21
Ch Su
apter mmary

These firms specialise in all carpets and interior finishes, including

maintenance, restoration and repair and understand the care required
for wool and silk.

For a global list of certified technicians, please visit www. iicrc.org. It is

advised that silk carpets are cleaned using an IICRC certified cleaning
technician. Silk fibres may be damaged by high temperatures and high
pH (>9) levels and typically best cleaned using a dry cleaning method.

Spot Cleaning
Spills must be addressed immediately. First remove as much of the spill
suspended on the carpet surface aspossible. Then, blot with a clean
white cloth until no color transfer is observed.

A cleaning kit containing a blotting cloth, a spot remover for water-

based spots, a spot remover for greasy spots and an absorbent powder
for spills, has been supplied with the carpet and should be used in
accordance with the instructions included. Please use the cleaning
kit as a first line of defense on wool carpets and call an IICRC trained
professional cleaner for further cleaning. Should spills occur on silk,
blot with a clean towel and do not attempt to apply cleaners to the
silk. Contact an IICRC trained professional to assess the spill and to
determine what cleaning method is best in that particular situation. To
find a certified professional, go to
http://iicrc.org/locate-a-certified-professional.com

General Knowledge
Regardless of what claims are made, no carpet is truly soil and stain
‘proof’. Wool and silk fibres are inherently soil and stain resistant, but
will indeed soil and stain and the above maintenance guidelines are
to be used as a reference to assist in the removal of these elements.
Additionally, light colours will naturally show soil quicker than darker
shades and should be considered accordingly.

CORIAN SOLID SURFACE

Overview
This document provides care and maintenance guidance for end-
users and facilities management. More severe damage may require
professional repair.

ROUTINE CARE
There are three types of Corian® Solid Surface finishes: mane/satin,
semi-gloss and high-gloss. Contact your Corian® Design sales expert
if you are unsure of your finish. Typically, lighter colors have a mane
finish, while darker colors have a semi-gloss or gloss finish. All sinks and
lavatories arc finished wirh a matte/satin finish . Some guidance may
vary by finish rype. Clean spi lls prompdy, many materials only stain if lcfr
in contact with the surface for extended periods.

Warm soapy water, ammonia-based cleaners or commercially available

solid surface cleaners will remove most dirt and residue from all types of
finishes. Avoid window cleaners, however, as they can leave a waxy
build-up that dulls the surface. Experience has shown that a film builds
up on the surface if water is left to dry on the counterrop. This film will
dull the look of the counterrop making the fini sh appear blotchy and
uneven. To prevenr buildup of the film , it is very important to wipe the
countertop completely dry after spills and cleaning. Some Corian® colors
may require more frequent cleaning to maintain a uniform finish. Darker
colors tend to require more attention rhan lighter colors. Over time, even
with proper care, your counterrop will acquire a patina, changing the
appearance of the
finish.

Some of the guidance for renewing Corian® Solid Surface with Resilience
TechnologyTM is different as noted below.

You may restore the look of the original finish by fo llowing the
refurbishing guidelines in this bulletin. Corian® Solid Surface is unaffected
by common household and commercial cleaners such as:
• Powdered abrasive cleaners with bleach are suitable for matte finishes,
use on semi-gloss and gloss finishes may dull the finish.
• Ammonia
• Strong detergents
• Oxalic acid solutions
• Dilu te hydrochloric acid solutions
• Dilute trisodium phosphate solutions

Acid drain cleaners may cause surface damage and should nor be used
on Corian® Solid Surface.

Unlike other surface materials stains or marks caused by cigarettes,

alcohol, food, lipstick, hair dye, shoe polish, iodine, marking pens, etc. can
be removed by the instructions in this bulletin. This type of maintenance
will not harm the Corian® surface, and will restore it to ‘‘like new’’
condition.

Corian® Solid Surface can usually be repaired with no permanent

damage. Tough to remove stai ns, fine scratches, and small cuts can be
removed using standard repair techniques.

PREVENTING DAMAGE

Some chemicals are not compatible with Corian® Solid Surface.

Avoid surface contact with:
• Strong chlorinated solvents
• Chloroform
• Ketones
• Methylene chloride (paint removers)
• Very strong acids such as concentrated sulfuric and hydrochloric acids
• Acid drain cleaners should not be used.

Surfaces exposed to these agents should be promprly flu shed with

water. Contact for even a short period of time can cause surface damage,

S.J LIPKINS

Marble, Travertine, and Granite require routine maintenance and care

to maintain their finish and luster. It should be mentioned that Granite
is harder and more durable than marble and limestone, which are both
more prone to scratching, etching, and staining. I recommend following
the care outlined in this document for all types of stone.

The two most important techniques for proper maintenance are as

follows :

1. Clean up spills immediately to avoid staining.

2. Do not drag heavy, sharp or rough objects over the surface to avoid
scratching.

3. Clean the stone surface with a mist of neutral cleaner or stone soap,
available at hardware stores or your stone dealer. We recommend
Laticrete Stone Tech Revitalizer. Wipe off with a soft cloth for best
results. Too much cleaner or soap may leave a film and cause streaks.
Revitalizer will protect the finish and lessen the need for re-sealing
and re-polishing.

4. Do not use products that contain lemon, vinegar, or other acids on

marble.

5. Do not use scouring powders or creams. These products may contain

abrasives that can scratch the stone.

6. Do not clean the stone surface with solvents. They will remove the
protective sealant. We seal counter tops with Laticrete Stone Tech
Heavy Duty Water Based Sealer or Bullet Proof Sealer.
COUNTERTOPS 29
Ch Su
apter mmary

7. For maximum protection, additional coats of sealant can be applied as

needed. We then use Laticrete Stone Tech Professional Stone Polish
after the countertop is sealed. I recommend resealing every 6 months
or more often if harsh cleaners or solvents are used on the stone
surface.

8. If stains will not come out with Revitalizer, then I would recommend
using Laticrete Stone Tech

Professional Extract. Several applications and removals may be

necessary to remove the stain.

9. Use coasters under all glasses, particularly those containing alcohol,

citrus juices, or soda. Any food or drink containing acid can dull or etch
marble, so spills should be cleaned up immediately. Blot the spill with
a paper towel instead of wiping. A citric acid or red wine spill should
be flushed with water.

10. Oil spills must be cleaned up immediately.

11. Never use a knife to slice food directly on a stone surface. Always use
a cutting board for this

FEW NOTES OF CAUTION

• Acidic or abrasive cleaners: do not use them as they can damage

laminate surfaces.

• Drain cleaners containing lye will permanently damage any Wilsonart®

Laminate surface. If you spill a drain cleaner, wipe it up immediately
and rinse several times with water.

• Hair, textile and food dyes: they can cause permanent stains. If
dye should happen to spill, wipe it up immediately with dishwashing
detergent or an all-purpose cleaner.

• Hot pots or dishes: never place pots or dishes directly from the oven
or burner on an unprotected laminate surface; such extreme heat can
cause cracking or blistering.

• Oven cleaning: do not work with oven cleaners on an unprotected

countertop. Wipe spills away promptly and rinse several times with
water.

• Rust removers: they contain harsh chemicals which will quickly cause
permanent damage. If a spill occurs, wipe off all residue immediately,
wash thoroughly with soapy water and rinse several times.

• Steel wool and other abrasive pads: they will damage Wilsonart®
Laminate. Don’t use them for cleaning and don’t store steel wool pads
on your countertop; the metal can rust and leave stains.

• Toilet bowl cleaners: contain harsh chemicals that can cause

permanent damage. If spills occur, wipe up immediately, wash surface

ROUTINE CARE

To clean the surface, use a damp cloth or spongeand a mild soap or

detergent. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and wipe dry.

Difficult stains such as coffee or tea can be removed using a mild

household cleaner/detergent and a soft bristled brush, repeating as
necessary.

If a stain persists, use a paste of baking soda and water and apply with
a soft bristled brush. Light scrubbing for 10 to 20 strokes should remove
most stains. Although baking soda is a low abrasive, excessive scrubbing
or exerting too much force could damage the decorative surface,
especially if it has a gloss finish.

Stubborn stains that resist any of the above cleaning methods may
require the use of undiluted household bleach or nail polish remover.
Apply the bleach or nail polish remover to the stain and let stand no
longer than two minutes. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and wipe
dry. This step may be repeated if the stain appears to be going away
and the color of the laminate has not been affected.

WARNING:
Prolonged exposure of the laminate surface to bleach will cause
discoloration.
Hot pans and heat-producing appliances (such as electric skillets), when
set directly upon countertops, can mar the product’s beauty. Always use
a heat shield, hot pad or trivet.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Pionite decorative laminate provides a durable surface that is easy to

maintain using ordinary care.

To maintain the laminate’s lasting beauty, cleaning with a solution of

warm water and liquid dishwashing detergent is all that should be
required in most cases.

Stains may be removed with most non-abrasive house¬hold cleaners

such as FORMULA 409®, GLASS PLUS®, or WINDEX® WITH AMMONIA
D®. Light scrubbing with a soft bristled brush may be necessary to
remove stains from the depth of the structure on some textured surfaces.

If the stain persists, use a paste of baking soda and water and apply with
a soft bristled brush. Light scrubbing for 10-20 strokes should remove
most stains. Although baking soda is a low abrasive, excessive scrubbing
or exerting too much force may damage the decorative surface,
especially if it has a gloss finish.

Stubborn stains that resist any of the above cleaning methods may
require the use of undiluted household bleach. Apply the bleach to the
stain and let stand no longer than 1 1/2 minutes. Rinse thoroughly

WARNING:
Prolonged exposure of the laminate surface to bleach will cause
discoloration.

Many commercially available products contain sub¬stances that may

damage or discolor a laminate surface.

ABRASIVE CLEANERS SHOULD NOT BE USED. Particular care should

beused with any products labeled CAUTION or WARNING.

Do not allow harsh materials to remain in contact with the laminate

GENERAL CARE AND CLEANING

With normal use, our leather requires almost no care. In order to
maintain the natural look of leather, simply dust with a dry cloth. Do NOT
use polish or cleaners.

ANILINE LEATHERS
Require extra care. If a spill or spot should occur, blot im¬mediately with
a clean absorbent cloth or sponge. Do NOT rub the spot with force or
pressure. A drop of saddle soap on a damp cloth may remove dirt.

SEMI-ANILINE LEATHERS
Gently blot soiled area with a clean absorbent cloth or sponge.
If stain or spill does not disappear, clean by using a circular motion with
light to moderate pressure. Do NOT rub with force. If necessary, use a
slightly damp cloth with lukewarm water and let air dry. Do NOT use a
hair dryer or place near a heater to dry.

DIFFICULT STAINS
Use a mild, non-detergent soap or saddle soap to remove. Apply the
soap to a clean sponge or cloth – dampen and wipe the affected area
gently. Rinse with lukewarm water and a damp cloth. Allow the leather to
air dry.
LEATHER 40
Ch Su

CAVALLINI (HAIR ON HIDE)

For common spills or soil, soak with a paper towel or clean cloth
immediately. Wipe with a clean, absorbent cloth or sponge. The cloth
should be damp, not wet. You can use a mild non-detergent soap
solution or cleaner such as Ivory Soap. Do not use Ivory liquid because
it has a detergent base. Do not wash in washing machine or dry clean.
Always allow the hide to air dry.
NEVER dry with a hair dryer. Cleaning chemicals should NOT be used. If
necessary, we suggest using a vacuum’s soft brush attachment for dust
and dirt particles.

SUEDES
Blot spills with a clean, dry cloth and gently brush with a suede brush.

SHEEPSKIN
Blot spills with a clean, damp cloth. Do NOT use strong force or friction
as this pulls on the hair. For extreme staining, we recommend a local
leather cleaning specialist.

NEVER use cleaning solvents, furniture polish, oils, varnish, abrasive

cleaners, ammonia water or soap with a detergent base.

GARRETT

We recommend the following procedures for cleaning:

FINISHED LEATHERS / SEMI-ANILINE

Avion, Berkshire, Cadence, Caressa, Chatham, Flight, Glazed, Luxianna,

Mystique, Mystique Croco, Newport Club, Pearlessence, Shagarrett, and
Torino

Finished leather receives a protective treatment during the tanning

process, which allows for easy cleanup of everyday soiling and spills.
Many leathers will initially repel liquids, but if left to stand over an
extended period of time, the liquids will be absorbed. It is a good idea to
blot up spills immediately. Even if the spill is absorbed, it will dissipate in
time and eventually diffuse.

For Common Spots and Spills

Blot excess liquid immediately with a clean absorbent cloth or sponge.
If necessary, use Mild Cleanser and gently wipe the spill. Allow to air dry
naturally. Clean the entire area where the spill occurred, for example, the
entire seat cushion or entire arm. Do not dry wet areas with heat guns,
hair dryers, etc.

For Stubborn Spots and Stains

Apply Leather Cleaner from Garrett Leather’s cleaning kit to a clean,
wet sponge and rub gently. Wipe with a clean, dry cloth. Always try the
cleaning method in a hidden area first to test the results.
LEATHER 42
Ch Su
apter mmary

For Butter, Oil or Grease

Wipe excess butter, oil or grease off of the leather with a clean, dry cloth
and leave it alone as the spot should dissipate into the leather in a short
period of time. Do not apply water to try to wash a butter, oil or grease
spot.

For Ink and Lipstick Stains

Apply Ink Remover to the stain immediately. Allow 30 seconds for
the stain to dissolve. Use a clean, dry cloth to wipe away both the Ink
Remover and stain. Repeat as necessary.

Do Not Use
Any saddle soaps, oils, abrasives, soaps, furniture polish, varnish or
ammonia water. These may harm the finish and permanently damage
the leather.

Stain Prevention
Use Leather Protector from Garrett Leather’s cleaning kit or 3-in-1
Leather Wipes on a regular basis to nourish leather, retain softness, and
protect it from future stains.
Garrett Leather offers a Leather Cleaning Kit, Mild Cleanser, Ink Remover,
3-in-1 Leather Wipes, and a Nubuck Care Kit available

Leather care
To protect your leather, some basic rules should been known:
• Remove regularly dust with a vacuum cleaner or a slightly damp cloth,
then, let it dry.
• Avoid exposing your leather to sun or moon : leather could bleach.
• Avoid locating your leather near a heat source : leather could become
dry and though.

How to clean your leather

• Oil stains : Wash carefully with water and soap. If it is not enough, then
use a degreasing agent but before you must make a test on a hidden
side and check if the colour resists.
• Other stains : remove with lukewarm pure water, rubbing at once all the
leather surface. If the stain resists then try with soapy water.

Special case : Nubuck

• Alcohol, Liquor, Wine, Cola, Soda, Coffee : Dab with absorbent paper,
if the task remains, wash with warm water and soap.
• Ballpoint pen, Chocolate, Oil : Wash with warm water and soap
• Ink : Dab with absorbent material better, with Terre de Sommières.
• Chewing-gum : First harden it with ice cubes previously placed
in a plastic bag, carefully remove it, if it still small pieces use
a “chamois” leather.

In all cases, act quickly.

After cleaning, rinse with warm water, dry with warm hair (pay attention
to the temperature) then felt with sandpaper and polish with a soft brush

HIGH TECH FINISHING

CARE & CLEANING OF DECORATIVE PLATING

Do
Wear soft cotton gloves during handling of parts. Since the clear coat
application is vulnerable to accidental chipping or scratching during
installation, it is recommended that extra care be taken during this
process.

With a non-abrasive cloth, carefully wipe any plated parts that have
come in contact with moisture, especially highly acidic liquids such as
tomato juice, orange juice, and alcohol. This includes sinks, drains and
cupholder bottoms. After liquid is removed, wipe dry with soft cloth.

Rinse all traces of soap thoroughly then wipe dry with a soft cloth.

Periodically apply a light coat of a pure, non-abrasive wax. A waxed

surface helps protect the surface and prevents buildup of grease and oil
from fingerprints and atmospheric impurities.

Don’t
Do not force when installing or cleaning! All of these finishes are purely
decorative and cannot be treated like industrial parts. Please be cautious
when handling and cleaning.

Never use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents to clean parts.

Do not allow water or any other liquid to dry on the plated part. The
mineral content in some water will leave deposits that may be difficult to
remove and the acidity of other liquids may affect the clear coat.

Never break the clear coat seal. Caution must be taken to ensure the
clear coat is not scratched, cut or violated in any way.
METAL PLATING 48

TECHNO COATING

For highly polished surfaces, proper care and handling is extremely

important since dust particles or other foreign material can produce
very noticeable scratches on the mirror-like plated surface. In the case of
satin finishes, the latter is not critical, but in both cases, care and proper
handling is important to ensure a lasting finish.

Direct contact or prolongated exposure of vapors with; Multipurpose

Interior Cleaning, Multipurpose Interior Degreaser, Cabin Deodorizer, Pure
Solvents, and Upholstery Adhesives could deteriorate any clear coat.
Affected areas would fail; adhesion, bend, abrasion, impact, hardness,
chipping, marring, chemical, solvent, thermal cycling, UV, flammability
and corrosion quality lab. tests (see Plating and Clear Coat TDS).

For dusting, cleaning, and waxing never use old dirty rags, ALWAYS use
new soft paper towels and dispose of them after the first application.

CLEANING

Surface should be lightly dusted (not wiped) with a new soft cloth. If
spots or fingerprints are present, wipe them off gently.

Do not use harsh or ammoniated cleaning agents on any finish. Do not

use solvents such as acetone, benzene, alcohol or lacquer thinners for
cleanin.

Use the cleaning methods below described step by step. Stains of

various types will require different methods for cleaning, always start
with STEP 1 and progress through each of the steps until the parts are
clean. If the part is clean after STEP 1, there is no requirement to move
to the other steps.

HANDLING OF PLATED PARTS

Avoid using bare hands. Preferably wear gloves made of 100% cotton. If
gloves are not used, handle the part with hand towels.

Grip the part on an area that is not visible. Avoid touching visible areas.
Avoid hitting the part against any surface. Dents on the piece might
make re-plating necessary, as they are very noticeable on polished areas.
Dents may also cause the plated finish to break and result in peeling of
the finish.

Avoid contact of the plated surface with any tools as damage to the
surface may occur. If tools must be used around the piece, wrap it with
towels. This will reduce your chances of damaging the piece.

TIPS FOR A LONG-LASTING FINISH

Keep the part away from the sun. Long exposures may discolor the finish.
This applies to all finishes. Avoid spills on the finished surface. If this
occurs, clean immediately. Clean the parts periodically. Cleaning after
each flight is recommended.

Glaskote Routine Care and Cleaning

Glaskote is a durable finish that brings flexible style and enduring quality
to an aircraft interior. With the right care, your Glaskote can easily
maintain its luster, shine, and durability for years.
We recommend you sweep or vacuum loose dirt with a microfiber mop
head prior to mopping (as applicable). Regular, basic cleaning with warm
water and mild soap is sufficient to Glaskote looking great. You may
also use non-hazardous, low VOC multipurpose cleaner to remove more
difficult stains, dirt, and or particulate. Do not use cleaning products that
contain acids, fluorine, ammonia or other harsh chemicals as these can
damage and, in some cases, etch the surface of your Glaskote finish.
Always select cleaning products that are compatible with these
recommendations.
We do not recommend the use of cleaners that do not require rinsing.
These can leave a residue that reduces slip resistance (as applicable).
Always dry your Glaskote thoroughly after cleaning; this is especially
important for flooring, thresholds, and tiles.

Preventing Stains and Scratches

While Glaskote is highly resistant to scratches, etching and stains, these
surfaces are not damage proof. Take care to avoid exposing Glaskote to
permanent inks or dyes, as these might not be removable. If Glaskote
surfaces are exposed to permanent marker or dye, rinse with water
as soon as possible then apply an approved cleaning product (note
recommendations above).
Rinse and dry thoroughly. Although Glaskote is resistant to stains from
juice, wine, coffee and other food substances, it is best to wipe up spills
immediately.
Avoid scouring pads and products such as Comet and Bar Keepers
Friend; these materials can damage the surface over time.

Porcelain: Hand-wash or dishwasher?

You may hand-wash your dinnerware using the soft side of a scrub sponge
and regular dishwashing liquid. However, never use the abrasive side of
the sponge, which might scratch or damage the surface of the decoration,
especially gold or platinum.
Bernardaud dinnerware is also dishwasher-safe. Make sure to select
a low-temperature program and do not exceed the recommended amount
of detergent. If you are not going to wash your dishes right away (either by
hand or in the dishwasher), we advise you to rinse them off with hot water.
Load all of the pieces securely in the dishwasher so they can’t be dislodged

Porcelain and the microwave

All of Bernardaud dinnerware patterns are microwave-safe except
those decorated with precious metals (gold, silver or platinum). When

Porcelain and the conventional oven

Bernardaud porcelain pieces (fired at 1400°C) can easily withstand the
maximum temperature of a conventional oven (300°C). You can warm
your dinner plates in the oven and use Bernardaud serveware for all
cooking and baking purposes. However, Bernardaud products should
not be subjected to pronounced temperature differences. For instance,
never take a serving dish out of the refrigerator and put it directly into a
hot even (or vice-versa). This will make your porcelain dish – or any dish
made of a ceramic material – crack.

Special care for gold or platinum decorated dinnerware

If you choose to hand-wash your porcelain service, make sure to use a
soft sponge and regular dishwashing liquid. Be careful not to use the
abrasive side of the sponge, which can scratch or damage the surface of
the decorations, especially gold and platinum. However, we recommend
that you use a dishwasher, taking care to choose a low-temperature
program and not to exceed the recommended amount of detergent.
Whichever washing method you choose, we recommend that you wipe
off your porcelain service afterwards with a soft cloth to preserve the
shine of your decoration. If your gold or platinum decorated service is
not used regularly or if it is stored in a damp room, the gold or platinum
may tarnish. The metal may also develop a patina from being rubbed by
cutlery. In this case, simply polish it with a soft cloth and a few drops of
a solution used for silverware maintenance. Afterwards, there is nothing
better than frequent use to keep it looking its best! Finally, if your service
is decorated in the center, we recommend that you place a piece of soft
cloth between each plate when you store them in order to protect the
decoration.

An ultra-tough ceramic material

Porcelain owes its hardness to its ingredients (kaolin, feldspar and
quartz) and to its firing temperature, higher than that of other ceramics
(earthenware, glass ceramics, stoneware and bone china). Porcelain fuses
at extremely high temperatures, which leaves it hard and impermeable.
Appreciated for its fineness, whiteness and delicacy, porcelain is often
thought to be fragile, but is actually one of the toughest ceramic
materials available. Even so, you should handle your porcelain with care,
avoiding impacts and temperature variations. If an accident occurs, don’t
worry! Most Bernardaud dinnerware patterns are continued for years. If
need be, you can purchase an individual piece to complete your set.
