Turned Off Mode: Check these items before turning on the engine
1. Mast or forks not bent, worn or cracked
2. Lift chains, hoses and limit switches are in good condition
3. Tyres condition:
- Inflated and free of excessive wear or damage
- Nuts are tight
- No gouges, chunking or bond failure
- Adequate thread
4. Battery connecting terminal is tight and free of exterior
defects
5. Controls:
- Move smoothly without binding; and
- Return to neutral when released
6. Battery water level is enough
7. Battery covers and guarding over other hazardous parts are
in place and secured
8. Fan belt is in good condition?
9. There are no visible signs of leakage (e.g. oil, water)
10. Fuel level is enough
11. Engine oil level is enough
12. Radiator water level is enough
13. Transmission oil level is enough
14. Hydraulic fluid level is enough
15. Brake fluid level is enough
Turned On Mode: Check the below items after turning on the engine and before the operation
16. Hour meter gauge and gauges on instrument panel are
working
17. Battery charge / discharge indicator is working
18. Steering:
- Smooth and responsive
- Free of excessive play
- Without binding; and
- Without abnormal sounds
19. Footbrakes:
- Work and function smoothly without grabbing
- Free of fluid leaks;

- Pedal moves freely without binding

- Able to stop forklift truck quickly
20. Directional / speed control:
- Moves smoothly without binding
- Can only start engine at neutral position; and
- Plugging functions properly and returns to
neutral when released
21. Parking brakes able to hold the forklift on an incline without
slippage
22. Lighting equipment for visibility such as head and rear lights

Note: check the work area before you start your forklift for operational hazards in surrounding areas and report to
management all hazardous locations, working environment, work instruction, operating faults, malfunctions and
other difficulties that may affect the safe use of forklift
35. The following items should be checked weekly to make sure they are not damaged or worn out:
- Structure, overhead guard, hydraulic cylinders, mast assembly and lift chains and roller condition
