WEAPON MECHANICS RESEARCH

*PERIL2020:
- The game provides us with 3 different weapons for the character to interact
with, along with several ammo packs for each of the weapons.
-These weapons consist of:

Low damage
Trigun
Shoots multiple
Projectiles green
but big spread,
making it a
projectiles
viable gun

Grenade Projectiles Launches bouncy

Damage comes
from explosions

Launcher
grenade pills after a period of
time

Mediocre
Burst fire
Blaster Projectiles several bullets
damage with
good distance

*Trigun:
- It has short range, low damage per bullet, but what makes it viable is the spread,
with about 3 pellets per shot, players can get in close with enemies and shoot to
maximize the damage.
- Excellent for close range, which is the most optimal distance a player could have
for the Trigun.

TRIGUN ENEMY

*Grenade launcher:
- A more technical weapon, it fires exploding pills that detonates after a period of
time, which also has bursts. Firing 4 pills per shot.
- The pills are bouncy, it may not deal damage on impact but it will deal good
damage after the pills explode, with a AOE effect.

*Blaster:
- A more standard weapon, essentially a pistol with burst fire, fast fire-rate,
excellent in medium range though the recoil is very messy.
- It only shoots in burst and is very well-rounded damage wise.

=> The weapons in Peril has very unique attributes, each one has a different way
to optimize and maximize the damage. Players would be wise to choose the most
efficient one depending on their situation

*MONSTER HUNTER 4 ULTIMATE:

- Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate provides us with 14

different weapon types to choose from. This research will conduct about the
Charge Blade, one of the more harder and technical weapons to wield in the
Monster Hunter series.

- The weapon was introduced in the 4th generation of Monster Hunter, it is a

shield and a sword with a twist. The weapon can morph and transform into a
giant axe with elemental abilities.
- The weapon is divided into two forms during gameplay:
*SWORD MODE:
- The weapon unsheathe starts in Sword mode, this is where the character will be
wielding in the sword and shield version of the weapon.
- The player can hold R to block

*PHIALS:
- The weapon has an unique system called “Phials”. The character can build up
the Phials by dealing damage in Sword mode, enough damage and they can store
and load phials in their weapon.

** While in sword mode, the hunter can do (R+A) to load the phials in their
weapon
WHITE : NONE
YELLOW: 3 PHIALS
RED: 5 PHIALS

*Basic combo: (X + X + X)

- This is a very basic combo of the weapon, the character swings his sword
forward, upward and finally, round-forward slash while advancing forward.

*Advancing combo: ((X+A) + X + X)

X+A X X
- A variation of the basic combo, with the only change being the hunter will
advance forward at the beginning instead of standing still.

*Charged slash combo: ((A+HOLD) + X)

A+HOLD X

- This is the most viable combo in Sword mode, as it is the combo that charges
phials the most. *Note: Not holding A for the right amount of time or holding it
too long will result in a Non-Charged slash.

*The character can press (X+A) after any move except the first one in Sword mode
for a Shield Thrust, this move can instantly go to an Elemental Discharge after
inputting (X+A) one more time.

*RED SHIELD:

- The shield can be charged by the amount of phials in your weapon.

**You can charge the shield by pressing (X+A) in sword mode for a shield thrust
followed by (X+A) for an Elemental Discharge, and cancel it by pressing R to
charge
- The more phials you have, the longer the red shield persists.
-> It’s granted more blocking capabilities, more damage in axe mode and a new
move.
*AXE MODE:
- Players can hold (R+X) to morph into an axe
mode with added swing motion.
*NOTE: All phials that are stored in the weapon
can be used as extra discharges ( extra damage)
in regular axe moves.
*Axe Basic Advancing combo:((Forward + X) + X)

(FORWARD + X) A

- The character swings the axe

forward then swings the axe upward, a basic combo that reaches high parts of the
monster in certain situations, not viable.

*Axe Double Swing combo:(X+A)

X A

- In a swift motion upward followed by a double swing, this combo is a good

damage dealer for when the opportunity arises.

*ELEMENTAL DISCHARGE:
**Players can use (X+A) whenever in axe mode for an Elemental discharge

*WITH PHIALS
- It will preform an Amped Element Discharge, in a powerful swift motion with
long-build up time, deals big damage with a lingering damage effect of three
exploding elements. (This only requires more than one phial in your weapon to
preform)

*WITH PHIALS AND RED SHIELD

- It will preform an Super Element Discharge, a massively destructive round axe
swing, deals extreme damage with a trail of element discharges after.
- This is the most powerful move in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, and also charge
blade’s icon one.
* After the move, charge blade is depleted in all phials AND red shield.
*GUARD POINTS:
- The Charge Blade has hidden mechanic called Guard points, these are preformed
whenever the SHIELD is infront of the character in specific animations.
Example:
+)The final move of the Basic Sword combo
+)The beginning of the morph to Axe animation
+)The end of the morph to sword animation
..etc..
- These are to guard AND deal damage to the opposing side, WITH a follow-up
attack as the Elemental Discharge.
*GAMEPLAY LOOP:

CHARGE
UNLEASH AND
PHIALS AND
USE PHIALS IN
SHIELD IN
AXE MODE
SWORD MODE

USE THE BEST OUT OF

GUARD POINTS FOR
OPENINGS

=> All these elements make Charge Blade a very powerful choice in the arsenal for
hunters in the Monster Hunter series.
