SAIMUN VI Conference 2024

CONFERENCE POLICY
By registering for Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar’s In-House Model United Nations
Conference, each participant agrees to abide by all the terms and conditions established
by the SAIMUN team. Violation of the conference policy and mandate by any delegate
or faculty member will not be accepted or tolerated.

ELIGIBILITY
● All participants for this conference must be students of Sri Sathya Sai Vidya
Vihar, Indore, and must currently be enrolled in Grades 6 to 12 (session 2024-25).
● Members of the Executive Board and Secretariat serving as the organizing
committee must currently be enrolled in Grade 11 or 12 (session 2024-25).
● Those registered participants who are unable to attend the conference because of
unforeseen circumstances will not be provided with refunds or other
considerations.

DRESS CODE
● The dress code for the conference is strictly formal and all participants must
adhere to it. Inappropriate clothes will not be permitted and the delegate will be
debarred from attending the conference.
○20th and 22nd June: Delegates should dress in Western business
formal clothing on the first and last days of the conference. Traditional
attire will be permitted in case business formals are unavailable.
○21st June: National or traditional attire is mandatory for all delegates
on the second day of the conference. On day 2, the delegates of Ministry
of Magic can wear their respective allocation’s dress robes.
● Business Formal Clothing:
1) Girls- Trousers, blouses, plain shirts (refrain from wearing brighter colors)
and blazers (preferable but optional).
2) Boys- Pants, plain shirts (refrain from wearing brighter colors), ties and
blazers (preferable but optional).
● Traditional Clothing:
1) Girls- Kurtas (not sleeveless) with leggings or pants. It is compulsory to
carry a dupatta to maintain uniformity in photographs. No Chikankari suits are
allowed. Sarees are not permitted.
2) Boys- Kurtas with pajamas. Jackets are recommended.
● Casual wear (jeans and t-shirts) and see-through clothing are not permitted.
Accessories (except watches and hairclips) will be confiscated.
● Prescribed shoes for girls and boys are formal dress shoes. Please avoid high-
heeled shoes, casual shoes, and sneakers to ensure formality, comfort, and
mobility.
● The overall appearance must look crisp and smart. The hair must be tidy; this
implies tied hair for girls and smartly cut hair for boys. Girls are requested to limit
accessories and avoid heavy makeup as it takes away from the professionalism of
the conference.
● If the attire of any delegate is deemed inappropriate by the Secretariat, Executive
Board or the Teacher-Directors, they will be marked absent and debarred from
attending any further sessions. Changing of clothes and calling home to request
alternate clothes will not be permitted.
The final discretion in the matter rests with the Secretariat.

CONDUCT AND ETIQUETTE


● All the participants are expected to maintain discipline during the span of the
conference, both during the formal and informal sessions.
● If any delegate is found to have disruptive behavior during the course of the
committee session, they will be held accountable for the same and will be
expelled from the conference with no chance of readmittal or refund. The final
discretion in the matter rests with the Secretariat.
● SAIMUN is inclusive to all people regardless of race, color, religion (creed),
gender, or disability.
● Any delegate found discriminating against any member present in the conference
on any grounds will directly be expelled from the conference. Satya Sai as a
community does not tolerate or condone any type of discrimination.

EXPULSION FROM THE CONFERENCE


● The Secretariat retains the right to expel any delegate or group of delegates from
the conference at any time for violating the aforementioned regulations or failing
to comply with direction, or for any other disruptive cause.
● Any kind of harassment or mistreatment of fellow participants, committee
members or members of the executive board is prohibited at SAIMUN.

TRANSPORT
The buses will ply for all students who avail the bus facility on all days of the
conference. The students who commute by their own transport will be notified of the
arrival and departure timings to arrange their accommodation.

ELECTRONIC GADGETS
● All senior delegates (Grades 9 to 12) are allowed to carry laptops or tablets for the
committee sessions with their research available offline on them. They must bring
duly signed Electronic Gadgets Consent Forms if they wish to carry them, in the
absence of which, devices will be confiscated.
● Participants are not allowed to bring mobile phones to the conference.
● Delegates will not be permitted access to the Internet during the committee
sessions and are thus recommended to keep an offline record of their research.
● SAIMUN is not responsible for the security and safety of electronic devices
carried by the participants. SAIMUN has no liability in case of loss or damage to
said devices.
● If any delegate is found using the Internet during the committee session, they will
be expelled from the committee.
