Basics
i. 80A: Deduction should not exceed gross total income
ii. No deduction for members of AOP/BOI if deduction is allowed in respect of
Taxable Income / Body of Individuals u/s 80G, 80GGA, 80GGC, 80-I, 80-IA, 80-
IB, 80-IC, 80-ID, 80-IE, 80J, 80JJ.
iii. No deduction u/s 35AD: if deduction in respect of certain income is once
claimed and allowed in respect of profits of such specified business for any
AY, no deduction u/s 35ADis permissible in relation to such specified business
for the same or another AY.
2. Deduction under chapter VIA is not available in respect of
i. Short term capital gain u/s 111A
ii. Long term capital gain u/s 112
iii. Nonresident presumptive taxation u/s 115A to 115D.
iv. Income of Non-residents under chapter XII-A.
3. S80 C: Deduction in respect of Life insurance Premium, Deferred annuity,
contribution to provident fund, subscription to certain equity shares or debentures,
etc.
i. Eligibility: Individual/HUF
ii. Amount Eligibility: 1.5 Lakhs including sub sections.
iii. Deduction should be allowed only on payment and not on accrual basis
4. 80CCC: Payment in respect of pension fund
5. 80 CCD (1): contribution to pension scheme of Central Government by employee –
10% of the Salary
i. Note: 80 C, 80CCC & 80 CCD (1): overall deduction should not exceed 1.5
Lakhs as per S80CCE.
6. 80CCD(1B): Additional contribution of NPS Account
i. Atal pension Yojana, National Pension Scheme.
ii. 50,000 Limit
7. 80CCD (2): contribution to pension scheme of Central Government by employer –
No monetary limit
8. S80CCB: Deduction in respect of equity linked saving scheme
i. Eligibility: Individual & HUF
ii. Limit: Rs. 10,000
9. 80D: Health insurance premium
i. Eligibility: Individual or HUF, Resident or Non-Resident.
ii. 25,000 for individual, spouse & dependent children,
iii. 50,000 for individual, Spouse, Dependent Children Parents who are below 60
Years old
iv. 75,000 for individual, Spouse, Dependent Children + Parents who are above
60 Years old
10. 80 DD: Health maintenance for dependent who is disabled.
i. Eligibility: Individual & HUF
ii. Normal disability: 75,000
iii. Severe disability: 1,25,000
11. 80 DDB: Medical treatment of specified diseases.
i. Eligibility: Individual & HUF
ii. Up to age 60: 40,000
iii. Senior Citizen: 1, 00,000
12. 80E: Higher Education loan Interest
i. Eligibility: Individual
ii. Individual, spouse & Children
iii. 100% interest paid up to 8 assessment years.
13. 80EE: Interest paid on Housing loan.
i. Individual
ii. Up to 50,000 subjects to some conditions.
14. 80 EEA: Interest paid for affordable housing
i. Individual
ii. Up to 1,50,000 subjects to some conditions.
15. 80 EEB: Electrical vehicle purchase deduction.
i. Individual
ii. Interest paid on electric vehicle loan
iii. Up to Rs. 1,50,000 subjects to some condition
16. 80G: Donations.
i. All Assessee (Individual, HUF, Company, etc.)
ii. Donation to charitable institutions
iii. 100% /50%/Qualifying amount.
iv. Allowed donation in cash up to Rs. 2000
17. 80GG: deduction for house rent paid
i. Individual
ii. Least of
a. Rs. 60,000
b. 25% of total income
c. Rent paid in excess of 10% of total income
iii. Condition: The assessee is not in receipt of HRA.
18. 80GGA: Contribution to Scientific research or rural development.
i. All assessee except those who have an income or loss from business or
profession
ii. 100% of the amount donated
iii. Allowed donation in cash up to Rs. 10,000/-
19. 80GGB: Contributions given by companies to Political Parties.
i. 100% of the amount contributed
ii. No deduction available for contribution made in cash
20. 80GGC: Contributions given by individual to political parties.
i. Individual, HUF, AOP, BOI, Firm
ii. 100% of the amount contributed
iii. No deduction available for contribution made in cash
21. S80IA: Profits and gains from industrial undertaking engaged in infrastructure
development etc.
i. Industrial undertaking in specified business
ii. 100% profits for 10 consecutive years out 15 years beginning from year of
commencement.
22. S80IAB: Profits and gains to SEZ developers
i. SEZ Developers
ii. 100% profits for 10 consecutive years out 15 years beginning from year in
which SEZ has been notified by CG.
23. S80IAC: Company or LLP engaged in specified business
i. Eligible start ups
ii. 100% of the profit in 3 consecutive years out of 7 years from the year of
commencement
24. S80IB: Profits and gains from certain industrial undertaking other than infrastructure
development undertaking
i. Specified industrial undertaking
ii. 25%, 30% or 100% of the profits for such period as may be specified subject
to certain conditions.
25. S80IBA: Profits from housing projects
i. Individual, HUF, AOP, BOI, company, or any other person engaged in the
business of housing projects as may be specified
ii. 100% profit
26. S80IC: special provision in respect of Certain undertaking or enterprises in certain
special category states
27. S80ID: Profits and gains from business of hotels and convention centers in specified
areas
28. S80IE: Special provision in respect of certain undertaking in North Eastern States
29. S80JJA: Deduction in respect of profits and gains from business of collecting and
processing of biodegradable waste.

33. 80TTA: Saving accounts Deposits Interest
i. 10,000 Interest on saving accounts –
ii. Not on fixed deposit or recurring deposit unless it is made in any scheduled
bank and the minimum period of deposit is 5 Years.
34. 80TTB: Senior Citizens deposits Interest.
i. Least of the two is deductible
a. Specified income
b. Rs. 50,000
35. 80 U: Disability.
i. Eligibility: Individual
ii. Deduction
a. Disability (40%): Rs. 75,000
b. Severe Disability: Rs. 1,25,000
