Find the power set and cardinality of the given set

A=1 , 2 , 3 , 4}
Also find
the cardinality of power set.

Solution:

First, we can find power set of A;

A=1 , 2 , 3 , 4}
So,

{ },{1},{2},{3},{4},{1,2},{1,3},{1,4},{2,3},{2,4},{3,4},

{1,2,3},{1,2,4},{1,3,4},{2,3,4},{1,2,3,4}

There are 16 power set.

Now, we can find of cardinality of power set.

Hence,

Cardinality of power set; |P(A)| = 2n ; 24=16

Cardinality of power set are 16.

Let X  1, 2, 4,6,8 be a universe of discourse set,

two fuzzy sets on X. Evaluate:

a) ( A ∪ B¿ c = AC ∩ BC
b) ( A ∩ B ¿c = AC ∪ BC
Solution:
Given data are below;
X= {1,2,4,6,8} ; X is a universe set.
 A  (1,0),(2,1),(4,0.3),(6,0.5),(8,0.2)
B  (1,0.7),(2,0.5),(4,0.4),(6,0.1),(8,1)
A and B are fuzzy set.

a) ( A ∪ B¿ c = AC ∩ BC

De- Morgan’s Law for fuzzy set w.r.to union.

L.H.S = ( A ∪ B¿ c

Now;

A  (1,0),(2,1),(4,0.3),(6,0.5),(8,0.2)

B  (1,0.7),(2,0.5),(4,0.4),(6,0.1),(8,1)

Using formula;

Then;

A ∪ B=(1,0.7),(2,1),(4,0.4),(6,0.5),(8,1)

( A ∪ B¿ c = (1,1-max(0.7)),(2,1-max(1,0.5)),(4,1-max(0.3,0.4)),(6,1-max(0.5,0.1))

Simplify;

R.H.S = Ac ∩B c

Now;
