TASK 1_26/6/2024

***
Task 1:

SAMPLE:
The provided bar chart illustrates the financial contributions of five distinct organizations to
developing nations during the period from 2008 to 2011. Notably, organizations 4 and 5 exhibited a decline in
their financial aid to these nations. Conversely, organizations 1 and 2 showcased an opposite trajectory, with 2
emerging as the most generous donor in the latter half of the period.
In terms of specific trends, organization 1 began with 0.6 billion dollars, reaching nearly 1 billion in
2009 and stabilizing around 0.7 billion from 2010 to 2011. In contrast, organization 2 saw a significant
increase, starting at 1.3 billion dollars and peaking just over 2.5 billion by the period's end.
Organization 3, in contrast, maintained a relatively stable financial aid, commencing at 1.5 billion
dollars, reaching a peak of approximately 1.7 billion dollars in 2009, and eventually reverting to its initial
level by the conclusion of the timeframe.
Reviewing declining trends in organizations 4 and 5, both provided around 0.7 billion and 1.3 billion
dollars in 2008. Subsequently, 4 continuously decreased to around 0.3 billion dollars, and 5 dropped below 1
billion dollars in the final year. (188w)
Task 2:
The diagram below shows a simple system that turn dirty water into clean water.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where
relevant.
» Write at least 150 words.
» You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.

SAMPLE:

The diagram vividly outlines a simple method designed for purifying contaminated water to make it
suitable for consumption. Overall, the system demonstrates how easily available natural materials and basic
equipment can be utilized to produce drinkable water in a few straightforward steps.
First and foremost, a storage drum and a plastic barrel are positioned side by side, with the plastic
barrel's top positioned higher than that of the storage drum. These integral components are connected by a pipe
running from the bottom of the barrel into the side of the drum. Subsequently, a filter is constructed within the
barrel by adding layers of sand, charcoal, and gravel. Lastly, taps are installed both at the bottom of the drum
and the top of the pipe.
The process begins by lifting the plastic lid of the barrel and pouring impure water into it. The water
passes through the filter and travels up the pipe into the drum, where it is stored. Opening the tap in the drum
releases potable water for use. (170w)
Task 3:
The two tables below show statistics of workers of foreign and U.S birth in the United States last year.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where
relevant.
» Write at least 150 words.
» You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.

SAMPLE:
The two tables compare the number of workers in the US from the previous year who were born in the
U.S to the number of workers who were born in a foreign country. The tables provide a breakdown of the
workforce by gender and age, summarizing the total number of workers, employed and unemployed workers,
and the unemployment rate. All figures are in thousands.
Overall, there was much larger size of the US-born workforce and the percentage differences in terms
of unemployment were generally not very significant.
When examining the figures by gender, the male foreign-born workforce experienced a lower
unemployment rate (8.9%) compared to the male U.S-born workforce (10.6%). In contrast, the female
foreign-born workforce had a higher unemployment rate (11.1%) than the female US-born workforce (8.5%).
The total U.S-born workforce was significantly larger, consisting of 129,533 individuals, in contrast to the
total foreign-born workforce, which included 24,357 individuals.
Analyzing the figures by age, the younger segments of the foreign-born workforce (16 – 24 and 25 –
34) experienced lower unemployment rates compared to the native-born workforce. However, the foreign-
born workforce older than these age groups faced higher unemployment rates. (189 words)
