POSITION: SHIFT LEADER

REPORTS TO: OPERATIONS MANAGER

SCOPE

Responsible for the day to day running of the GTG’s and the BoP equipment, in accordance
with the best operational practices.

Ensure quality power output to the grid in accordance with the grid code.

Maintain interface with the maintenance team, the gas supplier and the NCC for best plant
performance and reduce downtime.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS

1. Oversees and direct the plant operators to ensure plant is running at optimal level in a
safe and efficient manner.

2. Administer and audit all plant Lock out and Tag out (LOTO) procedure.

3. Issuing and closing all work permit at the site thereby ensuring safety of workers and
equipment at the site.

4. Reacts to Alarms by taking the necessary corrective measures and executes plant shut-
down and start-up procedures as required.

5. Supervise the completion of routine inspections and assigned tasks to support the site
Discharge, Prevention, Containment and Countermeasures (DPCC) Plan, as well as
ensure the operations staff handles all hazardous materials and wastes in a safe and
environmentally sensitive manner.

6. Aggressively maintain a safe working environment to include good housekeeping

practices of assigned work area and comply with all applicable Environmental, Health
and Safety Policies.
 7. Ensures all shift personnel maintain records/Logs with 100% accuracy according to all
plant policies and regulations.

8. Prepare the Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Generation and consumption Report.

9. Oversees, verify and assists in shut-down and start-up of gas turbine and BOP prior and
during outages.

10. Operates all plant equipment/systems within scope of job responsibility. Responsible for
entire plant operations during back shift hours

11. And any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

12. Responsible for reporting all incidents, accidents and near misses to EHS dept for
necessary actions

13. Stands in for the operation manager when the manager is not at work.

2. Must have demonstrated excellent technical skills in the operation of gas turbine open
and combined cycle power plants or similar generating systems
3. Must possess integrity and trustworthiness towards the company
4. Must be a decision maker and stress resistant under emergency conditions and
multiple difficulties
5. Must have demonstrated ability to communicate effectively .Good verbal and written
communication skills in English is essential
6. Thorough knowledge of power plant systems and operations
7. Must be physically capable of climbing stairs and ladders
8. Must be capable of physically demanding work at heights and with adverse
conditions during operations and when participating in fire/emergency activities
9. Must be physically able of entering and working in a confined space
10. Must be physically capable to work a rotating shift schedule or overtime as required
to support operations
