connecting Nallamala and Seshachalam forests, aimed at facilitating the movement
of tigers. This initiative seeks to reintroduce tigers to the Seshachalam forest area
after an absence of nearly a century.
More about the news
• Recent tiger visits to Seshachalam, followed by their return to Nallamala, emphasize
the need for the corridor. Officials are speeding up central approval for the corridor
proposals due to increased tiger activity between Nellore and Kadapa districts.

conserving tigers in Andhra Pradesh, ensuring they have a safe passage.
• The state's tiger population has notably risen from 45 in 2010 to over 80 presently.

records recount their presence, including accounts of British hunters targeting them
near the Mamandur guest house.
• Plans are also underway to expand the Nagarjuna Sagar-Srisailam tiger zone,
presently covering 8 lakh acres, by an additional 5 lakh acres, further bolstering the
region's prominence in wildlife conservation.
• Approximately 1.50 lakh hectares encompassing Venkatagiri, Atmakur, Rapur, and
Udayagiri ranges in the undivided Nellore district are expected to be included in the
tiger corridor.
• Encompassing nearly 4 lakh hectares across four districts—Nellore, Tirupati,
Kadapa, and Prakasam—the corridor will span multiple forest ranges.
