DECLARATION OF A VACANT POSITION
1. St. George's Primary and Junior School is a public school established under the Basic
Education Act of 2013. It is a notable, respected mixed public day and boarding primary
and Junior School in Kilimani, Nairobi, along Dennis Pritt Road. It has a population of
more than 1,700 learners. The School prides itself on its prominent level of discipline,
learner-centered school environment, top-quality education, enthusiastic teachers,
resolute support staff, relevant co-curriculum activities, engaged Parents Association,
and a competent Board of Management.
2. The School is renowned for developing holistic learners through curriculums guided by
the Ministry of Education and the State Department of Basic Education. It offers a
Competence Based Curriculum.
3. The School Board of Management seeks a qualified candidate for the vacant ICT,
Music, Arts & Crafts, and Physical Health Education teacher positions. Detailed

ADVERTISEMENT
Position: ICT, Music, Arts & Crafts, and Physical Health Education teacher.
Place of work: St. George's Primary and Junior School
Reports to: Board of Management
Supervisor: Head Teacher

A. Job Summary: The teacher will supervise, educate, and support learners to help them
accomplish desired learning outcomes. Employment terms are two-year, renewable
contract terms of service upon evaluation and satisfactory reviews.
B. Purpose of the Job
• Ensure high-quality teaching in all subjects.
• Learners are motivated to learn.
• Learners do well at assessments
• Junior School learners begin to orientate themselves toward a career.
• Conducive team spirit, climate, and learning environment at the School.

C. Duties and Responsibilities


i) Teaching
• Teaches ICT, Music, Arts & Crafts, and Physical Health Education
• Preparing lessons and projects to complete learning objectives
• Establishing and communicating clear objectives for lessons and projects
• Organizes and prepares learning tools and materials.
• Facilitates group work, assignments, and projects.
• Creating, assigning, and grading various assessments for learners, including tests,
quizzes, essays, and projects
• Tracking and evaluating learners' academic progress
• Helping learners improve study methods and habits.
• Collaborating with learners one-on-one when they need extra help or attention.
• Adapting teaching methods and materials to meet learners' interests and learning
styles.
• Encouraging learners to explore learning opportunities and career paths in ICT, Music,
Arts & Crafts, and Physical Health Education

ii) Administrative
• Participates in school strategy development and planning in the ICT, Music, Arts &
Crafts, and Physical Health Education
• Advice the School Administration and the BoM on the budgetary needs of their areas of
teaching responsibility
• Participate in school activities.
• Registers attendance in the ICT laboratory
• Supervises school upkeep activities as and when requested by the School
Administration
• Abide by the Teachers Service Commission Teachers Code of Conduct
• Any other duty that the BoM might allocate them.

D. Requirements for Appointment
• A Primary Teacher (P1) Certificate. A diploma or Degree in Education will be an added
advantage.
• A minimum of two years of teaching experience in ICT, Music, Arts & Crafts, and
Physical Health Education.
• Teachers Service Commission (Kenya) registration certificate.
• Upholds Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya
• Proficient in Computer Packages (Microsoft Office) and ICT
• First aid training

• Mastery of knowledge in the learning areas

• Communication, presentation, and public speaking skills

G. Remuneration
The Board of Management sets the salary based on the successful candidate's
qualifications and the principle of equal work and pay. It is negotiable.
