A student applicant must be - a resident of the City of Candon for at least one (1) year; - a member of an indigent/low-income family; - an incoming first year college or currently enrolled in any of the colleges and vocational schools; - academically proficient with a minimum weighted average of 85% from his/her last grading, and also without a failing grade of lower than 75% or 3 on any subject; - able to maintain his/her scholastic rating every semester otherwise he/she will be permanently dropped from the roll of City Scholars;
In addition, he/she must have
- no other government scholarship (OWWA, GSIS, CHED, TES, Provincial and others) - no sibling who is a current city scholar
II. DOCUMENTARY REQUIREMENTS:
Based on the above qualification and conditions, an applicant must submit the following: 1. Duly Accomplished Application Form 2. Duly accomplished Barangay Certificate of Recommendation (fully signed by the Punong Barangay) 3. Photocopy of Latest Report Card from the school showing a weighted average of 85% or higher 4. Two pieces 2x2 ID Picture
III. PROCEDURE AND SCHEDULE:
- Applicants shall file their application forms with the attached documentary requirements from June 10, 2024 to July 12, 2024 at the GAD Unit/City Cooperative Development Office. - Examination date and venue to be announced. - Qualifying written examinations will be conducted by the Scholarship Committee that will comprise subjects in General Mathematics, General Sciences, General Knowledge and an Essay Writing (for language proficiency and current events). - An oral interview will be conducted on the same day by a panel consisting of representatives from the GAD Unit, Office of the City Mayor, Local School Board, PESO, LYDO and CSWDO. - Results shall be posted in the City Hall Lobby or can be inquired from the GAD Unit three weeks after the examination. - Those who qualified and passed the exams will be informed in writing. - The Scholarship is worth P6,000.00 per scholar in every semester.
