PURPOSE
This procedure is work instruction, to make it possible to move a Prodigy/ Prodigy Advance
system through openings that otherwise would not be large enough for the scanner to go
through whole.
SCOPE
This procedure applies to all situations where it is necessary or more convenient.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Ionizing Radiation Exposure: When power is applied, this equipment may generate ionizing
radiation. Take precautions that no part of the body passes through the x-ray beam when
the equipment is energized. Avoid scatter radiation during warm-up and testing by
maintaining a safe distance from the x-ray beam. See the Safety and Specification manual
for equipment appropriate distance and other precautions regarding ionizing radiation. All
operators must be properly trained regarding ionizing radiation and take adequate steps to
protect against injury.
Electric Shock: This equipment contains high voltages. When the tabletop/panels/ shrouds
are removed, visually confirm that power cord is unplugged and remains unplugged until
power is required to complete the procedure. When servicing while energized, take
precautions to prevent electric shock.
Moving Parts and Pinch Points: Avoid moving parts and pinch points (e.g. belt/pulley,
arm/back rail, green wheels/rail).
Sharp Edges: Take precautions to prevent injury from contact with component edges (e.g.
OMI/OMD wheel, arm slot cover).
Hot Surfaces: Keep hands clear or allow components to cool before servicing. (e.g. stepper
motors, hard drives, power supplies and microprocessors).
Heavy Lifting: Obtain help lifting or moving any object weighing over EHS limits. Ask for
assistance when maneuvering awkward objects (e.g. tabletop).
Laser Radiation: Do not stare into the laser beam at any time. The reflection from the
tabletop or shutter/collimator assembly is sufficient to determine if the laser is on.

PROCEDURES/PROCESS STEPS
1. Remove table top and rear panels, be sure to disconnect the ground wires for the
rear panels.
3. Mark the position of the longitudinal away limit switch (at the foot end) and remove.
4. Mark the positions of the longitudinal idler and drive brackets on the frame of the
scanner either with a pencil or by scratching the paint around them. This will aid in
repositioning them when the frame is reassembled.
6. Remove the upper bolt (1/2”) from the brackets and push each bracket to the side (the
brackets will pivot on the lower bolt). Secure the brackets to the frame in this position
with electrical tape so they do not swing freely when the lower half of the scanner is
moved.

8. Remove the eight (8) 5/16" hex head bolts from the frame legs. There are two bolts
per leg located about half way up each leg of the frame.
9. Now the two halves of the scanner may be separated. Two people are required to lift
the head and foot ends simultaneously taking the upper half off of the lower half. The
upper section is much lighter than the lower half (with the Electronics Mounting
Chassis). Take care not to twist or bend either half of the frame as this may cause
alignment problems.
10. Reassemble the frame in reverse order. Use the marks on the frame to reposition the
longitudinal brackets, longitudinal away limit switch and verify that the longitudinal
belt runs properly on its pulleys.
EFFECTIVE DATE
The Effective Date is the Approval Date in MWS.
