develop this innovative idea.

Abstract

The Smart Waste Management System is designed to automatically segregate waste into
recyclable and non-recyclable categories, improving the efficiency of waste management and
promoting environmental sustainability.

Introduction

In urban areas, waste management is a significant challenge. Improper segregation of waste

leads to increased pollution and health hazards. Our Smart Waste Management System aims to
address these issues by utilizing sensors and AI to automate the waste segregation process.

Statement of Purpose (SOP)

The purpose of this project is to develop a cost-effective and efficient waste management
system that can be implemented in urban areas to reduce the burden on waste management
facilities and improve recycling rates.

Objectives

 To create a system that automatically segregates waste.

 To reduce human intervention and errors in waste segregation.
 To promote recycling and environmental sustainability.

Working Mechanism

The Smart Waste Management System uses various sensors (optical, chemical, and weight
sensors) to identify the type of waste. An AI algorithm processes this information and activates
a mechanical sorting system that directs the waste into the appropriate bin.

Future Scope

The system can be enhanced by integrating IoT for real-time monitoring and data collection,
allowing city planners to optimize waste collection routes and schedules. Additionally, the AI
can be improved to handle more complex waste types and increase sorting accuracy.
Conclusion

The Smart Waste Management System offers a practical solution to urban waste management
challenges. By automating waste segregation, it reduces human error, promotes recycling, and
contributes to a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
