Calibration of scales
Scales are calibrated according to their type by using different blocks, such that these blocks
are made of steel, brass, or bronze so that they do not rust. During the calibration process,
they must be in an isolated room with a moderate temperature, and phones should not be
inserted so that they do not affect the calibration process, as weighing is used in General
trade, precious metals and blocks used in terms of accuracy are M3, M1
Pressure transducer calibration process:
The calibration procedure typically involves applying known pressures to the transducer and
comparing the output values to their corresponding input values. Adjustments are made
until the output matches the input accurately.
1. Set up the transducer: Place the transducer in a stable environment free from
vibrations or movements.
2. Pre-calibration preparation: Apply pressure to the transducer, typically about 90% of
its maximum capacity.
3. Calibration:
• Increase the pressure applied to the transducer in small increments.
• Use a pressure gauge to record the applied pressure and a multimeter to
measure the corresponding output voltage at each increment. Repeat until
the transducer's full scale is reached.
• It's important to increase and decrease the pressure in the same increments
to capture the behavior of the transducer in both directions.
• At each test point, give it time to settle down and stabilize (about 30
seconds). Use more test points if needed to improve the calibration
accuracy.
4. Checking and recording: Compare the readings with a reference device. Any
mismatches could be due to calibration drift (the gradual change in measurement
accuracy of an instrument over time), faulty equipment, environmental conditions,
procedural errors, or reference device issues. Document the results for future use.
Thermometer Calibration Guide
Ice water method
Make a mixture that is half ice and the other half water by filling a deep bowl with crushed
ice and adding clean water to it to fill the bowl, then stirring well. Immerse the thermometer
(including the click of the digital metal leg thermometer sensor) for 30 seconds – until the
pointer stops moving.
Make sure that the stem does not touch the side wall or bottom of the container. Make sure
the temperature sensor reads 32°F (0°C). • If the thermometer does not read 32°F (0°C) and
the thermometer has a calibration tip: Keep the metal leg still in the pot and turn the nut
until the thermometer reads 32°F (0°C). • If the thermometer does not read 32°F (0°C) and
the thermometer does not have a calibration tip: You can press the reset button, replace the
battery and retest, or replace the thermometer.
The ice water method is considered the most common and widespread.
Calibration procedure.
