Ceva would like to introduce you to the Ease the Pressure Pack

Ceva Animal Health wants to work with vet practices to be more proactive against feline hypertension and has
created this ‘Ease the Pressure’ pack to help make routine blood pressure screening simple.

The Ease the Pressure materials cover why it is important to screen for this common condition - estimated to affect 1
in 5 cats from 9 years1 - as well as which cats to target for screening and how to streamline the process in practice.
From the logistics of making sure every member of the practice team has an active role in screening, to helping
encourage owners to get their cat screened, the pack includes advice and tools to make every aspect of successfully
increasing the rate of feline hypertension screening easier for everyone.

As the signs of hypertension can be subtle or absent until significant organ damage has occurred, routine screening is
the best way to detect cases early and so reduce the risk of target organ damage. 1 The latest recommendations from
ISFM are to screen all cats aged seven years and over at least annually and cats with hypertension associated
diseases such as chronic kidney disease and hyperthyroidism, every three to six months. 2

The pack also features top tips for taking a blood pressure (BP) measurement and how to reduce the risk of
situational hypertension – a common cause of spurious readings. A history form, developed by Dr Sarah Caney BVSc
DSAM(Feline) MRCVS, a leading UK specialist in Feline Medicine, is included to help easily record what can
sometimes be complicated histories for older cats.

Plus there are some fantastic owner resources in the pack, with even more available to order on our new
hypertension practice portal www.easethepressure.co.uk. Including cat carrier tags with top tips for owners to help
reduce stress associated with travel to the vets as well as a Blood Pressure Diary so owners have a record of their
cat’s blood pressure readings and can be more involved in their pets’ condition.

The pack supports Ceva’s dedication to improving feline health and welfare and provides the tools to help practically
implement learnings from their recently launched four-part online Hypertension Ambassador CPD course, which
covers the who, why and how of blood pressure screening with Dr Caney.

Suzanne Page BVSc MRCVS, cardio-nephrology-hypertension product manager at Ceva Animal Health, says: “Early
detection of hypertension in cats is so important for preventing organ damage but vets often tell us that they
struggle with time pressures and resources to run routine hypertension screening. This is why we wanted to help
make routine blood pressure screening as easy as possible for practices with the ‘Ease the Pressure’ pack. Together
with our Hypertension Ambassadors’ initiative, we aim to give practices the support they need to confidently talk to
their clients about the condition, accurately measure blood pressure in a cat-friendly way and offer advice on the
different treatments available.”
