1. GENERAL
The purpose of this Job Method Statement is to outline in detail the Excavation, Cutting, Removal of
Existing Apron Slab & RC Foundation and RC Work for Cable Trench at east GT01 next to existing
Power Plant (“Project Aurora”) - WTP.
2. SCOPE OF WORK
This method statement covers the procedures and sequence of Excavation, Cutting, Removal of
Existing Apron Slab & RC Foundation and RC Work for Cable Trench at east GT01 next to existing
Power Plant - WTP.

6. SITE PLANNING
6.1 PREPARATION
i. Before commencing the work, the area for cable trench shall be cleared of all debris,
materials or other underground obstructions.
ii. The ground shall be levelled and compacted. The area of work shall be free from any other
activities.
7. WORK METHODOLOGY
a) Bench Mark and Control Points shall be fixed and maintained in proper manner on site.
Surveyor will carry out the works in accordance with the approved drawings.
b) Contractor shall record which control points have been used for each section of work
when setting levels. All of survey work shall be verified and confirmed by EESB Reps.
e) If crack found at WTP, need to stop immediately the hacking work using
backhoe/excavator. To proceed with manual hacking.
f) For crack found (if any), will be repaired immediately by EESB with concern of OE and
Owner
g) EESB supervisor should be station full time at the work area during work being carried
out.
7.2 EXCAVATION
a) Start excavation work as per drawing and excavate till required depth after hacking of
existing concrete foundation.
b) Install blockwall as shoring protection as well as permanent formwork
c) To compact the soil and lean concrete.
d) Excavation shall be kept free of ground water by providing appropriate dewatering
measure.
a) The formwork outer and inner of cable trench wall shall be installed as per survey setting
out.
b) The formwork should be so constructed as to remain sufficiently rigid during the concrete
placing and should be sufficiently tight to prevent loss of cement slurry from the concrete.
c) Formwork shall be sufficiently tight to prevent leakage of grout or cement paste. All
surface of formwork and embedded materials shall be cleaned of any accumulated mortar
of grout from previous concreting and of all matter foreign materials before concrete is
placed.
d) Formwork surface shall be sealed against adsorption of moisture from concrete by a field
applied with approved form oil.
7.4 REINFORCEMENT
a) The concrete used shall be in accordance with to the approved concrete manufacture.
b) To raise Request for Inspection (RFI) before each concrete pouring activity.
c) The total time required for mixing, transportation and pouring of concrete should in
general not to exceed more than 120 minutes as per project specification to avoid
segregation or damage to concrete.
d) While in the process of placing concrete shall be consolidated by vibrator, spading,
rodding or forking so that the concrete is filled worked around the reinforcement and
around the embedded item.
e) The time interval between concrete layers shall follow manufacture recommendation.
f) Contractor shall keep on site a complete record of the work showing the time and date
when concrete is placed in each element of work.
a) Removal of form shall be considered conjunction with BS 8110-1, clause 6.2.6, unless
otherwise specified, the formwork will be removed as below:
- Foundation, Footing, Pile Cap, Pedestal, Stump, wall, beam other parts of structural
not supporting the weight of the concrete: 24 Hours
- Support the weight of the concrete: 14 days
- Supporting slab: 7 days
- Supporting beam and girder: 14 days.
b) Curing shall be carried out in accordance to MSRA Post Concreting.
c) To rectify post concreting as per MSRA Post Concreting for any defects.
