I chosed this book because the main character [ Auggie] is fighting against all
odds to fit in society. The story is fictional and presented in mulitiple first
person by the main charcacters.
The theme of the story is to treat others like you wanted to be treated. An act of
kindness goes a long way. The story was set in Manhattan, New York in 2012. It is
centered around the kids at Beecher Prep School learning not to judge anybody
from the outside without knowing what are they are like inside. Auggie did not let
his genetic facial deformity hinder him from being himself. He showed honor and
respect for others even when they are mean and scared of his looks. In conclusion
Auggie's friends treated him with respect and kindness because he is a great kid.
The main characters are Auggie, Summer[ Auggie's friend], Jack [Auggie's friend],
Mis. Pullman[ Auggie's mom], Mr.Pullman[ Auggie's dad], Via[ Auggie's older
sister], Justin [ Via's boyfriend], Miranda[ Via's friend].
Via relationship with Auggie is similar to me and my little brother's [Kyle]
relationship. Kyle and Auggie have chronic medical conditions which makes them
different from others. I am like Via because we are protective of our little
brothers. Auggie lives with his mom and dad who are Mr. and Mis. Pullman, his dog
Daisy, and his older sister Via. Auggie is home schooled until 5th grade. When he
goes to school he trying to fit in society. Auggie have to get used to kids making
fun of his looks because of his facial defority, but later on everyone stop making
fun of him because they found out that he is a great person. the most important
thing that I learn is don't judge a book by its cover.
