Read the following passage carefully and answer questions that follows:
Every year, we have a sport day in our zone. Different sporting activities are performed during this day, some of
the sporting activities are high jump, relay race, cross country and sack race. All schools in the zone participated
in the activities. Prizes are given to winner in each activity. This year the sporting activities took place at
Nthembwe primary school ground. I was well prepared. I trained every day by running around our school. Five
learners represented their school in each activity.
I represented my school in cross country. Thirty learners took part in this race. We ran a distance of five
kilometers. When the whistle blew. We started running. My school mates stood along the road as we run to the
finish line. As soon as they saw me, they shouted my name. “ Chimwemwe! Chimwemwe! Learners from other
schools also cheered their runner’s names. I ran faster than everybody. I overtook a runner ahead of me and won
the race. I received a bicycle.
